It seems that life strikes again and I had another unfortunate week long hiatus. My apologies. Anyway, to business!
Last weeks episode was a bit of a shocker, but at the same time felt a bit like they were treading water. It was a Jin-centric episode that had, at times, a confusing amount of flash forwards and flash backs. For those of you who didn't understand what was going on with the whole Panda bear thing, that was a flashback, not a flash forward. We know this for several reasons, when he delivers the bear the baby is a boy (Sun has a girl). The show playing in the background in the toystore is 'Expose', a soap opera about a certain exotic dancer who gets shot when she finds out her boss was the "kingpin". It's the year of the dragon, the last of which was in 2000. And, when asked when he was having a baby, he said he had only been married for 2 months.
Also in last week's episode we discovered that Juliet can be a frigid bitch, willing to do anything to accomplish her objective; In this case, to get Sun off the Island quickly so she doesn't die.
We also see a Jin's supposed grave with the date of his death being that of the plane crash. I think this is interesting. I really think that the writers are playing with the timeframe here because interestingly only Hurley comes to meet Sun. I think this is meant to imply that Jin is actually still alive on the Island to accomplish something (likely something we'll find out by the end of this season) and simply sent her Sun to Korea to have the baby safely. I also think that she has every intention of returning with Hurley. That's just a guess, who knows what's really going on.
And finally, the 'big reveal', of the episode was that Michael was on the freighter under the alias Kevin Johnson. This raises several interesting question, how could he have possibly gotten off the island, and completely changed his identity in the short 30 days he's been off the island? Clearly it has something to do with Ben and probably WAAAAALLLLTTT. Also, why has he returned? Where is Walt? What was he doing the whole time he was off? And how long exactly was he off the island? We already know there's a time difference from the Island and from the 'real world', hopefully we'll find out tonight.
Tonight's episode centers around Michael. And if ABC's promos are to be believed, someone is going to die. My bets are on Claire. Why else would Kate have her baby? We shall see. Who do you think will die? What do you think Michael was doing while he was gone? Do you have any grand, unifying theories about what's REALLY going on yet?
Ummm...let's see, agree with you on the Jin thing, the date of death was "supposedly" when the plane crashed on his gravemarker. And did you think what I thought when Hurley was alone with sun? *bow-chicka-bow-wow*
The Michael thing was kinda ridiculous too, since anyone with a loving of Lost could see homeboys name come back on the credits. Fun fact, I was looking for him earlier on in the episode, and you do see him after chica jumps off the boat. He's wearing a hood, but it's clearly him.
Tonight's episode should be awesome.
Sorry couldn't resist. So, how many episode are left before Lost goes on hiatus again?
Episode 9 is probably going to go into more detail about the Freighter people. I say this because Minkowski's on the cast list for that episode.
If Claire dies this season, it'll be at the end of the season. They aren't getting off the island till the end of the season supposedly. Lord only knows how we're expected to believe that the Freighter people are on this really relaxed timetable.
I thought we were going to find out who all of the Oceanic 6 were by the end of this 8 episode run. That doesn't seem to be the case. Aaron isn't technically one of the Oceanic 6, and neither is Ben.
"I'm here to die"
oooo exciting
I'm bracing myself for disappointment tonight. It happens more often than not with Lost these days.
I'm sorry why doesn't Aaron count? If you consider the fact that there's clearly a time difference, it could easily be explained that she got pregnant on the island and had him. Therefore making him one of the six.
This would mean that Oceanic six are: Hurley, Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun, and Aaron.
Heck to even date it better, in the time span between the plane crash and the start of Season 3 is roughly 2 and a half months worth of island time, which would put it in mid/late October. What happens early in the third season? Ben shows Jack footage of the World Series.
If there's someway how that time fluctuates where Walt aged the way he did, they'll explain it in due course, but the fact remains that no matter the timespan passed, there's no proof that time on the island is significantly slower than anyplace else to the point that landing on the island creates some exponential time delay.
Also, after sniffing around on the internet, I'm not entirely convinced that Sayid is one of the Oceanic 6. He may claim he is, but he might not be.
The Oceanic 6 is the name that the media gave the survivors. Since the guy on the golf course recognized Sayid as one of the six I pretty sure he's one of them. Or maybe he just recognized him as an assassin, I don't really remember.
I think you're making the identity of the Oceanic six a bigger deal than it needs to be. It seems obvious that it was just a mechanic used by the writers to have character development episodes, nothing more.
