It's official. One of the most iconic and well recognized anime/mangas ever, is being ripped to shreds by non other than Leo DeCaprio. But not only will there be ONE movie, but TWO, that's right TWO live actions movies.
Don't get me wrong, I love Akira as much as the next anime fan. But dammit, Leo DeCaprio? Neo
Brooklyn?! WTF? Not to mention, that if they take this movie to the extreme violence levels of the anime itself, it will be no less than a really hard R rating.
Imagine seeing some guy take a lead pipe to the face at 80 MPH on a motorcycle!
On the "bright side", at least there's already a
functioning version of the bike now.
Old news? It was announced like 2 hours ago.
If by 'like 2 hours ago' you mean yesterday.
...And whatever became of the live action Neon Genesis Evangelion film that WETA Workshop wanted to do?
Good question. Chances are it proved to expensive. While us anime fans would flock to see it, the fact of the matter is, it probably wouldn't appeal to the masses. Not to mention they would have to water down the story a bit to avoid a massive amount of controversy. Probably just not worth the risk of a huge box office flop.
I would LOVE to see a live action Cowboy Bebop of Trigun though.
