Lost and Found

Greetings Internets,

Tav7623 here, live from George Lucas' top secret moon base and this week I was pretty much just gonna randomly talk about video game stuff because I'm a leaf in the wind, watch me soar :p just kidding, though seriously I was gonna do something like that, but I felt that doing it would be a bit inappropriate for a blog entry. So I decided to go back to the drawing board sorta speak and think about it while I was finally getting to cleaning out the junk that was piled up in my closet (it had become a inaccessible black hole and needed a major cleaning) on my day off from work. Well it didn't take too long into the cleaning ( I'd say about an hour or so) to find something to blog about and it was all because of something that I found buried away in that closet........

What was it exactly? Well in real terms it was a couple of boxes mixed with some old video game consoles, accessories & games that I had accumulated over the years, but either never really bothered to get rid of (my PS1) or had completely forgotten about (X-Men 2 Clone Wars for the Sega Genesis) until recently. In terms of the not so real you could say what I found was a treasure trove of memories from my youth like playing a Castlevania game for the first time (which was Castlevania III, I was almost 8 and got to play it while I was over at a friend's house), getting frustrated at navigating the electric seaweed in the Dam level of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES game, or going over to spend the night at my cousin's house and staying up til 2 am playing Goldeneye.

These were but a handful of memories that I had for the most part buried away in the back of my mind where they stayed completely forgotten about until a few days ago. Finding this stuff got me thinking about a number of things such as old friendships that are or have been long gone, places I no longer live at or in some cases no longer exist, and it also gave me some ideas for a couple of future video game related projects that I think I might try to get off the ground. It also made me realize that despite being a long time gamer I had still managed to missed out on playing a wide swath of games growing up. For instance I never played Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III (other wise known as Final Fantasy VI), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the early Metroid games, or any of the SNES and Nintendo handheld Castlevania games just to name a few. Well I plan to start rectifying that very soon starting with Metroid and heck I might be able to get a few more in before I become consumed by the insanity of Far Cry 3 next month.

Well I think that will do if for this entry, thank you for reading the blog and I hope that you enjoyed reading this entry despite it being overly nostalgic. If you have any comments, criticisms, or hell fond gaming memories of your own please feel free to post them below.......until next time this is tav7623 signing out live from Moon Unit Zappa :p
