After Nintendo's disasterous (yes, I do mean disasterous. Toys are not videogames) press conference the other day, there was one thing on every gamers mind: Have Nintendo completely lost touch with the hardcore gamer? Do they really care about us? Do they even know what we want? It seems like this proves just how out of touch Nintendo is with the hardcore gamer. Choice snippets include:

"Also items that we didn't talk about yesterday, like Wario Land: Shake It. Which is a great franchise for the core. It's Wario in all his gross wonderfulness, shaking the Wii remote, and that's going to be tons of fun."
Because shaking a Wii-mote like a wanker really makes me feel core.

"what core gamer doesn't love Mario and baseball and finding out which combination of characters are going to do what kind of crazy things in the field?"
This one.

"Just tell your blog that I'm really a genuinely smiley, nice person."
Because talking at your "blog" is what core gamers do.

While Mario Baseball: Whatever is retarded, I am pretty excited about Wario Land. I mean, I've been waiting on a console side-scrolling platformer for a long time and you can't argue with the quality of the majority of Nintendo's first-party titles. Also, even though it may not be that "core", but I'm excited about Animal Crossing

Yeah, I can't stand this lady and Nintendo didn't make any huge announcements at E3, but honestly... Neither did anyone else. Nintendo has been trying to keep an even tighter wrap on information about their games and I think the main reason that nothing was revealed is because they're trying to hold off on hyping up games that aren't coming out for 4 more years. They've even said this recently.

I don't think Nintendo has abandoned the "core" gamer, but I will agree that their press conference was awful beyond all logic and reason...

Also, I hope they realize their mistake by next year... I mean, who out of their "casual" audience even pays attention to E3? Normal, everyday people don't care enough about video games to troll the internet for hours on information poring out of E3. That was a stupid decision.

What is a 'core' gamer anyway? I think that companies are having to try and answer this question for the first time and struggling with it. I think it would be easier to accept Nintendo's mindset if we didn't try to divide their games (and everyone else's) into two separate categories. I mean, my grandma likes to play Wii Sports, but she also likes Mario Kart 64, does that make Mario Kart a casual game? Nintendo has always tried to appeal to the broadest audience possible, which is why they don't make very mature or adult games and that's all that's going on now.

After watching the Nintendo conference I actually got angry at how successful they've been. They are making so much money they don't even realize how almost everything they make is lame. I love that they are making money, more power to them, but I hate their oblivious attitude about people being upset about the direction they are taking the wii.

I would not give a shit about it if people had a little tact, but they don't. All I am hearing from every single person is "OMG E3 = teh gay because of lame announcements, let's talk shit about all the game companies and how ghey they are yeeayyyhh. *make blog title encompassing e3 being gay somehow*. OMG LOL THIS E3 WAS THE LAYMEST EVAR"

Call me crazy, but I like coming to this website for fun information, news and well thought insights from friends and gamers. I do not come to listen to cunts whinge in 50 different ways about how X event did not meet their fucking standards.

You got to see a whole fuckload of footage from games you haven't seen yet, awesome games at that. Not to mention the new Wii sports resort that makes use of the Wii's new motion enhancement addon, which will pretty much change the way games are being developed for the Wii.

And I hardly think Nintendo has abandoned you :/

If Nintendo wants to listen to the core gamer which has made up their fanbase for, well, ever... They should just go ahead and say "that thinkfreemind guy has been asking about F-Zero since the last E3, so here it is." Man, that'd be great!

Anyways... I don't think Nintendo has forgotten us, but I do feel as if it is more of a "let's toss them a bone" attitude from them these days. This is what happens when a console maker gets to be on top, they lose their minds (like Sony did, and M$ and Nintendo are doing). There is some good stuff coming for us, like Mad World for example, but Nintendo should step it up and stop leaning on Capcom, Sega, etc.. to pick up the slack so they can feel free to make a frisbee game.

Yeah I don't get the constant bitching either. Cats is acting like Nintendo is making Wii Music sequels from this day forward.We ALL know that they have some hot shit up thier sleeve.Case in point,How long was it between them announcing Zelda:TP and it being released???? Pikmin 3 was confirmed. A new Zelda was more or less confirmed. And personally,The Conduit being on the horizon makes up for any suckitude Nintendo displayed, because I don't even LIKE first person shooters and I need this game,cause it's looking risickulous right now.

Sure, I agree that Nintendo sucked this E3. So did everyone else. In fact, this particular E3 was the death rattle for the event at large, and I find the whole thing quite obsolete anyway.

@Skribble - I see absolutely nothing wrong with condemning the obvious failure of this year's E3.

Using a gaming convention to market material only to its target customers (who pay no attention to said convention) while singlehandedly ignoring the majority of content that interests fans (who actually pay attention to said convention) seems pretty fucking stupid and useless.

The problem is people drawing conclusions about the company itself and their ultimate goal.
You've proven yourself that the Wii does have a list of good games coming for it. That doesn't mean E3 wasn't retarded and undeserving of criticism...

Nor does E3 give me confidence about any of the companies - they are the ones that will be designing the next iteration of consoles.
If casual gaming is at their core interests (which everyone admits is "good" for business), what effects will that have on controller/hardware design, and what will we get years down the road?

That’s why I am selling my Wii, anyone wants it send me a pm comes with allot of stuff. If anyone says that the market demographic isn’t 8 year old kids and housewives you are a fucking liar. Sure, you get a couple of third party titles that think outside the box, but they come out once in awhile.
