Harvard thinks violent games are a-ok.

First off, big ups to Dtoid for having a great blog system to help us newbies get a little recognized, that's pretty ballin'.

Secondly, ARTICLE TIME:

Pretty interesting read where 2 Harvard dudes in lab coats studied about 1000 middle school kids and saw the results. Interesting tidbit,

They discovered that children who played violent video games – those rated Mature or above – were just relieving stress.

A danger sign for boys is “not playing video games at all, because it looks like for this generation, video games are a measure of social competence,” says Kutner and Olsen.

Take that Frack Frompson. (Got him pretty good with that one.)

Pretty good thing to see that appreciation for videogames and studies proving they aren't the AntiChrist is awesome.

To be honest, I think appreciation for video gaming is on the whole improving. It is evident this is the case, as the media has spotted this general shift and, as with most things, the media is usually in opposition to change, or so it seems.

Give it time, and eventually it will all quieten down (when the media sees some other form of tradition being screwed over), and gaming will be as accepted as going to see movies or reading books.

Exactly kepler, our species once saw it necessary to burn books. Elvis was a villain to conservatives as wel, and wasn't too long ago that violence in cinema was put under the microsocope, and hell, just about almost 20 years ago now, rap music was sought after by Joe Liebermann to be straight outlawed...

...so yeah, tl;dr, we'll be just fine.
