Thank God for my Nintendo DS.
I, being the generous and unemployed fellow that I am, was nice enough to bring my mother-in-laws car into Saturn today to have a few things checked up on.
I entered Saturn at 10:30. I just got home at 3:45.
I brought with me my laptop and my DS. The laptop lasted about two hours during which I check my email, and did my usual net stuff save for looking up porn (might have been a bit awkward). I also managed to finish up a short story I've been working on, busting out a good eight single spaced pages which for me is unprecedented for that sort of time period.
After that died however, it was all up to my DS. I use a DS Lite, so I had two games in two. The Dark Spire and Wing Commander Prophecy. The latter didn't see much use, but I managed to put a few hours into The Dark Spire.
I've never really used portable systems in the manner they were intended, meaning on the go. Usually I just play them while on the bed with the misses to keep the TV free for Hell's Kitchen or one of our other usual shows. Today though, I was more grateful for my little handheld then I could ever imagine being. If I hadn't thought to bring it along I would have spent a good bulk of the day watching the weather channel.

This, but also make sure your mother-in-law is there.
