I'd like to preface this by saying that my net is capped so I haven't seen the video, but I have listened to whole Fred Phelps rants for my religion class so I figure it can't be worse than that.
Firstly I'd like to address the comment that a Gaygamer site doesn't need to exist as we're all gamers etcetera etcetera. That is ridiculous, it does, because prejudice from the dominant culture forces people to coalesce into groups of similars to avoid it. And to say that sexuality has nothing to do with gaming know nothing, sexuality has everything to do with everything. I'm not a Freudian (he was a twit) but it is such a prime motivator for action that it will always be a preconcious consideratin in any thought. Also, if the prime society has a negative opinion of who you fundamentally are, the only way you can survive, psychologically, is by being so "out" and saying, "fuck you here I am". People who say "I wouldn't go on as "straight boy" or some such, of course not, because we have been programmed with social schema to see it as normal, to state what is normal is just strange, so that is why it doesn't make sense to you. Oh, and to beat a dead horse, homophobes are either gay and have such a fear of it due to the prejudicial environment surrounding their development that they turn that self loathing outwards, or, they have a predatory attitude toward women and fear being made the target of domination. Don't argue, it's been researched (with a device to measure activity in the penis whilst observing hetero or homosexual images, would you believe). So Gay Gamer should exist and they should be able to be out with their sexuality, in their regular lives or their gaming life. Now, to all the people with this, "Well, what do you expect, it's just trolling", attitude. That is fucked up, would you say that to a girl dressed in next to nothing being raped? Does she deserve it for not wearing modest clothing. I'm not equating being insulted on Live with rape, but the attitude of "victim deserved it" is the same and it sickens me. Stupid or not, the problem is the assault, NEVER the victim. Lastly to the Halo 3 community. Now, I am new to the world of online FPS, TF2 (LOVE) is the first one I have ever played, but I have heard about the general quality of random pricks with their digital balls out, so I prepared for the worst. Nothing. Nada. Nil, naught, not a goddamn thing. Yesterday I was playing with someone with the name "C@ck Goblin", now regardless of whether or not that person is a straight girl or a gay man, I figured going to an online FPS with a name like that was going to result in a torrent of horrible insults. Nope, no-one said a thing and everyone was happy. As an aside, I love the people on TF2, I have had nothing but fun, polite and friendly banter with the people so far, another reason why I love it. I mean, someone had the name "I EAT PISS", and still nothing. I bring this point about TF2 up because I feel that it could be down to a cultural difference in the communities. I've not played on Live, so perhaps I am speaking out of turn, but I think that the culture is feeding this prejudicial, insulting manner back on itself. One question I have is, have Microsoft ever addressed this at all? If not, I feel that they share some responsibility for the degredation of the culture they host, had they taken a harder stance on suspending the accounts of abusive little fucktards, perhaps the Live community wouldn't be as it seems today. Ultimately, I think stuff like this needs to be done, as this problem is one of those things we all know but have just learned to ignore. Things like this are important, a quote whose source I can't remember went something like this, "Prejudice is like a pupil, the more light you shine on it, the smaller it gets". I think Gayboy hase shone a good light today.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Good Post.... from the future....
2. Saying "no shit you're getting flamed" isn't the same as blaming someone. The barely clothed analogy wouldn't be accurate unless the girl was near naked in an unsurveyed back alley full of sexual offenders. There's a difference between "asking for it" and "should have really known better".
3. I don't think there's much MS can do. If they banned all the halo players who said inappropriate things, they'd probably lose half their live subscriptions. I agree that it sucks that people are retards, but there's little that can be realistically done about it. The only solution I can see is that if that sort of flaming genuinely bothers you(although you shouldn't give a shit what imbecilic children say to you), your only viable option is to try and not make yourself a target. It sucks, but anyone who told you the world was fair was most likely off their face on something fun but illegal.
The "no shit your getting flamed" is blaming the person, I know that flaming is hardly rape, (duh) but it is the mindset behind that comment that bothers me the most. It still blames the victim, should have known better or not.
From all the other times I played, no one was really being mean or offensive. It was just like how you mentioned TF2 (I assume you play it on the computer like I do), no one was being rude or offensive.
MS did set up feedbacks for people to use to help take out people who are rude and offensive, however, I heard that it takes an near insane amount of people leaving the same feedback before MS does anything about it. I could still be wrong about it.
This does not make it right or even OK to do, but that's basically where we are. MS doesn't care, they just like rolling around in their piles of money and hookers and blow. The kids don't care, 'cause even if MS did ban them, they'd just get their parents to buy them a new Xbox 360, and they'd be right back at it again the next day. The parents don't seem to care, either, but man, if I ever heard my kid utter some of the things that they were saying to that guy, he'd never touch a game console again.
It's unfortunate, but like I said, this is where we are. It doesn't matter what you play, you're going to run into assholes like this. When I was playing TF2 the other day, we had to ban no fewer than 4 people for being complete and utter douchetools. Spamming the mic and shit. These kids sounded like they were 12-years-old. All we could do was ban them for being assholes.
I miss gaming back-in-the-day when if you heard somebody yell 'you're a fucking ni--er' all you had to do was reach over and give him a swift punch in the gut, 'cause he was sitting right next to you on the couch. Consequences = civility for the mostpart.
Hey, maybe people do need to interact with people they have things in common with but I hope that someday those things are all chosen at free will. I don't prefer to hang out with straight gamers over gay gamers, white gamers over black, asian, latino gamers. I just like hanging out with gamers and all I hope is that one day that becomes the norm. For now, people suck. The end.
And damn you VG for making me write a serious comment.
