A little while back I wrote a somewhat bitter piece
about the state of gaming journalism, which was written after drinking following a research session into media theory. So I have wanted to see a little venom for quite some time, which gets me to today's little tale.
My brother was listening to the Wiik in review podcast from IGN today as it contained some info and impressions on No More Heroes, which as a "hardcore" and a Wii owner I am very much looking forward to. Once they reached the end of the podcast, though, they addressed this whole gamespot fiasco in the most pathetic manner possible. I wasn't expecting them to start ranting passionately on the topic, but man, this was the most pussified skirting of an issue I have seen in ages, and I keep up to date with global politics.
They basically said that they read the internet too and they don't know what happened and that their site is free from advertising influence on editors and that they are just sorry to see a veteran reviewer go.
So I left the room thinking, "What a fucking cop out answer. Why even address the point if
aren't going to address the point. You balless little pricks. I mean, I know it's IGN but damn".
I don't know how you step lower than the bottom rung of the ladder but IGN managed to defy physics today.
Then I come here.
There have been alot of "My Dear Sweet Destructoid", blogs praising the site, and while I wouldn't generally do such a thing, I have usually commented in agreement on these blogs.
But after all that has transpired, and after my bitching about gaming journalism with balls, I can say that, when the page loaded up, I have never been so happy to be face to face with a big pair 'o testacles (or ovaries for the female readers) and a brutally satirical pair, no less.
So here goes, I lo....
I lo..
I lo...lo...
Iloveyoudestructoid.
There, I said it.
You're Australian!
HaHa!
Much appreciated. If the cash never comes at least we'll always have our lulz
not to blow my e-peen, well actually, but i wrote about how everybody's the same. there's not one site or magazine out there that has no responsibility towards their advertisers. especially ign. you know how big ign is? they're pretty big. you think "ign-insider" subscriptions puts food on their table? gamespot might have been an extreme case, and there might be different levels when you're talking about editorial influence, but ign is just like everyone else.
this just goes to show how awesome this site is.
