I guess one of the few things that bothers me about TF2 is the small number of 1st party maps. There's only 6, and they're all desert, industrial, or desert-industrial environments. Thankfully, Valve will be releasing some new maps. Of course, in typical Valve spirit, they haven't committed to a release date.
There's also a patch for the 360 version which should be live in about two weeks in addition to a (free, I hope) release of whatever utility Valve used to create its TF2 character videos (engineer, soldier, heavy, and demoman).
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
about me
Well, I'm a recently-converted-to-hardcore-except-I-still-sort-of-suck gamer stuck at a dominantly anti-gaming school: Wheaton College, Illinois (useless fact: there's another Wheaton College in Massachusetts). For me, addictive game == action with RPG elements. Hence many happily-wasted hours on Oblivion, Ninja Gaiden, RE4, TF2, CoD4... Haven't been able to get into RTSs or turn-based RPGs yet.
Anyway, I'm from around Fairbanks, Alaska (seriously) and am a math major, computer science minor, maybe a physics minor too. Would love to be a professional game developer except big programming projects (like games) are incredibly difficult and annoying. I know this from personal experience. Independent development might be a different story, but I haven't tried yet. Writing is fun and I keep intending to record my impressions of games, but just end up playing them instead.
In case you were wondering, my ID is formed by reversing my real name, Sam Cole, to get masjeloc, then changing mas to math since I'm a math guy, and finally adding an s on the front since smath sort of sounds like smash, as in Smash Bros.

Instead of fail like this
C'mon! That requires EFFORT and planning and there is no wikipedia source to copy pasta. How is one suppose to work under such conditions?
extreme laze.
fail.
Nice commentary on the article. No wonder you have no friends.
Fail.
Sorry about the initially minimal post. I had to get to class - apparently I should have just waited and published afterwards.
We don't really need maps from Valve, there are already a lot of custom ones out. Still, more maps is nice.
new maps from Valve is great, they make really good maps
