Get ready for AGP madness
sirpalee | 3:34 AM on 11.07.2007 6 comments

People are starting to forget, the good old agp connector, who is with us since 1997, but amd isn't.

After the launch of the x2400 and x2600 agp compatible videocards (you can find some MSI and Sapphire variants), it seem we get some agp version of the upcoming RV670. Probably this will be TEH most powerful agp card ever (and I'm going to get one ^^), with features like the power saving, uvd and 55 nm feature and it'll be delivering the same shader power (or not more) than the 2900XT. So how long will the agp systems last?

When I built the machine I am using it was the tits. That was almost 3 years ago. I should have went with a pcix mobo, but I was a cheap bastard and went with an agp. rocking an x800 256. This is good news for me since I need to upgrade or build a new one.

Does anyone make a motherboard capable of more recent processors that also has AGP though?

Seriously I don't know, but that will decided most of it.

O Rly? I thought AGP was all but dead. I know I made the right choice when I built up to PCI-E

I have an AGP 7600gt!
A decent AGP mobo is the AsRock 4CoreDual-Sata2, it supports dual/quad core, DDR2 ram, AGP 8x and SATA2
Think that they stopped making them recently so you should track one down ASAP.
