Dead Rising 2 Multiplayer?
sirjester | 1:05 PM on 02.25.2009 11 comments

Sorry, this isn't a scoop, just more of an open forum

The time has finally come and there were a few nay-sayers that said it couldn't/shouldn't be done, but I already feel like Capcom has got another hit on its way. The first trailer we've gotten is a tease from hell, but what interested me the most is the freakin' Atlus Sphere you see for 1.27 seconds in the trailer.

Anyways, to the point: a co-worker and I (who I recently forced to play the first Dead Rising) had a conversation about how fun it would be for the sequel to have some online mulitplayer modes a-la L4D, and maybe even a "build your own survivor" mode. So, my question to all is, if Dead Rising 2 had a mutliplayer mode, what game types would you like to see? Go crazy, get creative, I'm just interested in everyone's ideas.

Maybe some kind of rush to get to the escape point? Like two humans starting in separate but equal areas and having to race eachother through hordes of zombies/psychos to get to the last remaining chopper seat... Or see who can rescue the most survivors within a given time? Who can kill the most zombies?

I'd be real happy with a co-op feature in the vein of Crackdown, where you're both there in the same casino but you don't necessarily have to be doing the same thing...

If it had multiplayer, I'd be much more interested in it, I can say that much. I don't even care what kind of multiplayer, but I agree with platypus that Crackdown-esque gameplay would be the best.

COOP is a given, what with the recent trend, and thats all I ask. :)

Like Fable 2 but good , you see a sign that there is another player there (you create your own survivor and the player must be on your friends list) , so you can press I dunno what and he gets an invitation to join your universe , not necessarily doing the same thing , up to 4 players in the same universe...

Yeah, I would love to see some Co-op, like one person holding a zombie in a full nelson while the other goes to town on its abdomen with a slot machine handle or something. Some tag-team wrestling inspired moves would be hilarious.

It would have to be competitive as far as I'm concerned.

One of my big problems with the original Dead Rising is that the zombies are so weak and stupid, and Frank is so powerful, that the killing everything in your path is just way to easy (and therefore gets old fast). I can't imagine how easy it would be if you and a friend were both over powering all those zombies at once.

Your ideas for a competitive mode to see who can kill the most zombies or save the most people would be cool though. It would sort of be like competitive Crazy Taxi, except without cars, and with zombies

Also, if they end up making DR2 play like RE4 (as they did with the Wii remake of DR1), then a mode where you actually have to shoot at your friends amidst a zombie invasion would also be cool.

Why is it called an Atlus Sphere?

haha I miss-spelled Atlas, damn. It actually has nothing to do with the game company Atlus...fail.

co-op or survival mode.

no versus, none.

After RE5's cool multiplayer, I think Capcom would be dumb not to add into Dead Rising 2.
