So this is where I get to reveal the indie game I'm working on for Xbox LIVE Arcade. It's a game made out of clay.
Yes, clay.
Just like the plasticine you play with as a kid, and like the good folks at Aardman still play with to amazing effect. If you've never seen a claymation game before, give
Platypus a try.
Working with the genius/madman that is
Anthony 'Platypus' Flack, we're working on a title called
Cletus Clay, an old skool side scroller reminiscent of Metal Slug, Contra, mixed with a little Double Dragon. Only this time the artwork really exists, physically, and is sat on a desk somewhere.
Or perhaps in a fridge. You see, our artwork actually melts!
As the name probably gives away, Cletus is designed to be fun. From the visuals to the characters, the from the music to the gameplay, we just want to entertain players. We're not pretending to be deep and meaningful here, you and your family just have to kick alien butt off the farm!
We're in the middle of development right now but we'd love to have any comments or feedback so please pay a visit to the
Cletus Clay blog at
TunaSnax and let us know what you think. Even better, we'd love for you to tell other people through your blog,
digg or whatever flavour of real/on-line medium you prefer!
If any of you would like to know how we do it or would like to beta test, we'll be posting some modeling examples & we have a Cletus
forum thread for would-be testers.
I can see the game being fun, but the art style seems a little generic. The game would benefit from having an icon of some kind, rather than just " here is farm, here is alien, play".
Either way, good luck sirs!
