Epic Journeys in Mystical Lands (PPGR)
shipero | 1:22 PM on 06.18.2008 12 comments

PPGR stands for Pen and Paper Game Related.

Greetings friend, stay awhile a listen. I’ll tell you the tale of three young adventurers torn from their home and sent on a fantastic adventure to stop a death cult. It’s a story full of fantastic adventure, pulse pounding action, and a bunch of asshole Kobolds. By the time I have finished spinning this delightful yarn for you fine folks you will either rushing off to share what you just heard with your family or you will be calling for my head on a platter for daring to post a NVGR blog. Either way there will be much merriment.

Once, in a faraway land, there were three students at the Javolin School for World Travelers. There was Tichondrius, the strong fighter descended from dragons, Skamos the Tiefling mage, and Jearin the nimble Halfling thief. The three young apprentices had decided to take a break from their studies by relaxing on a hill next some local ruins. Alas, the still calm of the night was shattered by a loud crash and the young lads went to investigate the cause of the noise. What they found wasn’t a shooting star as they expected but rather an oddly dressed and badly injured old man. He begged for their help and handed them a strange copper device. Before they could react to the strange situation however there was loud crackle and the three were whisked off to parts unknown.

While still in transit they heard a booming voice. This voice told them of their task and what steps they had to take to accomplish it but since the voice sounded like two people using a megaphone to shout down a hallway to a phone that had been thrown against a wall, the instructions were a bit hard to understand. When the mysterious voice finally got done blathering on about whatever its point was our young champions found themselves transported to the side of an unfaililualr road. They before they had a chance to gather their bearings they were attacked by an army of bloodthirsty kobolds.

They valiantly fought through the angry hoard. Skamos held them back with powerful magic, Tichondrius tore through their ranks with ease, and Jearin tripped over his own feet and got hit from wayward spells from his new “friends”. After the dust had settled and the corpses were looted the trio limped off to the nearest town to lick their wounds, find out more about their surroundings and continue on with their grand quest. That's all for today my friend, perhaps at some later date I shall regale you with the details of their further adventures but for now I must rest.

Now some of you may be saying “Hey Shipero, why are you wasting our time with this stupid bullshit? No one cares about your stupid D&D character, you fucking retard.”

Well first let me say “Fuck you. You’re mean.” but I’ll also admit to having an ulterior motive for posting this. As some of you know Balth is running an online D&D campaign for some of us Dtoiders. So far the only ones to bite have been King3vbo and I, with one of Balth’s real-life friends rounding out the party. Yojimbo agreed to participate but backed out at the last minute, something about this senile brain being unable to properly perform simple calculations. So I figured I’d check and see if I could drum up some more interest within the community. To join you need four things: a 4th Edition Player Handbook, a license for Fantasy Grounds II, Skype, and a headset. Simple enough, we’re looking for a maximum of three new players. The Fantasy Grounds II license costs about $24, with the Players Handbook costing around $35 (closer to $20 if you shop around). We play on Monday evenings around 10PM EDT with sessions lasting a couple hours. So come, join in the fun. Or don’t, that last thing my poor rouge needs is more people to nail him with stray magic. Fucking tall people, don’t watch where they're aiming.

Here's a video showcasing one of the major changes in 4th Edition:

For the cost of one player's handbook and only one Fantasy Grounds II license, you can save a hungry Halfling.

Thousands of Halflings become orphans, cannot reach the tops of tables, or become dirty every year.

You can help a poor Halfling by joining our toll-free D&D 4th edition game for just pennies a month.

The joy of Shipero's halfling will show on his face as he gleefully loots your share of the dead kobold's gold.

Don't let the sorrow of not being able to reach higher than your kneecap affect another Halfling. Save this one, and euthanize the rest.

Call balth99@gmail.com if you have the strength to not let another single Halfling be dirty.

Call now.

I'd really like to get into DnD, but I don't have $100 to burn on rulebooks and equipment right now...

Also, deep in the forest, on that foggy night while heading to meet my fellow companions Balth and you, a Beholder lurked before me. As an experienced D&D gamer I did the natural thing..I ran like a pussy. Hence the no show.

$44 is not a hundred dollars, Spartacus. Shipero even linked it?

To summarize in Yoda: Forty-four dollars, does not a hundred dollars make, mmm yessss?

Also, damn dirty halflings.

Ah Y0J1MB0, thanks for finding that Beholder, I was wondering where I had left it! :D

Yes, but they almost died. Hence we need up to three more brave adventurers to take up the cause, to fight the good fight, Gerry must be confounded at every turn! --er...

But yes, I have plenty of hooks Justin, I just need bodies to puts them in ;)

Also, sausage-fingered halflings.

Please call now.

Looks Shipero, just because Tichondrius zorched you, and you're jealous of my amazing ability to roll high damage on every spell, doesn't mean you have to complain.

Also,

WE NEED A HEALER

Please join our group, we wont retcon too bad to let you in :D

Oh, I missed the link to the handbooks. But $20 for that, and then $40 for the Fantasy Grounds, that's $60, which is actually $100 because I am Al Gore. But I am considering it.

@Spartacus

$40 is only for the full program, which you only need if you want to DM. The lite version, which is what I have, is only $23.95.

Your most-likely-drug-laced words have convinced me. I'll try and get it sometime in the next month.
