SSBB Broken for some Wiis
shadycrzy | 12:07 AM on 03.09.2008 11 comments

Read the full story at http://www.amishotaku.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=255 but the gist of it is the game can't be read by some Wii consoles. If you want to play the game, you'll have to send your console into Nintendo to get repaired with what they claim is around a 7 day turn around. Bullshit I say. After all these delays it should have been perfect. WTF!!

Wedge's Destructoid Blog
It's a hardware problem they've known about since Japan, but there's nothing they could have done to the game for it. It's because it's the only DVD9 game on the system, and if the system is dirty, it will have issues reading that.

Yes it sucks, but you're an idiot if you think it's something they could have "fixed".

mine works fine. though i'm just trying to play it now. Now that all that nonsense of a hype is pretty much over with.

If you're in Nintendo's callcenter right now, I'd say you'll be hearing a fair bit of bitching. I know I only stayed there 3 days...

I underestimated the power of tar.

I'm more concerned with the rate at which this is happening. Hopefully it's pretty low; my Wii is always in a pretty open area...

That's just funny.

Hmmm this was pretty much expected considering this is the first DVD9 game on the system.

I do hope my Wii runs the game without a problem though! ;o

Ron, be gentle. For a lot of Nintendo fanboys, it will be their first time experiencing a console hardware failure. Maybe you can show them the ropes.

Now i'm more interested in getting brawl soon to see if I'll have that problem or not.

haha kudos to Ron and MaxVest.

But seriously, what if the Wii were to glow red at the disc port when it fails? What would we call it?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

 about me

Let's see, I started out w/ a Colecovision back in the early 80s and moved up to Nintendo when that came out. I was the first kid on my block to learn about the SNES because I was the only kid who actually read the whole magazine. I picked up that machine at launch and soon got a Genesis as well. I lost touch for a while when I was in Military School for five years (that's fucking hardcore). In college I picked up the PS1 and amassed the greatest collection of fighting games ever assembled. Then I got the PS2 at launch. Three days later - my birthday actually - the PS2 and all of the games were stolen. It took me a few years to recover but today I've got everything but the PS3, because it's too fucking expensive.

It's a good thing I've got all these systems because I run a website Amish Otaku for the gamers. It's small but growing. We're not trying to compete w/ the Destructoid lads but they are an inspiration at least. Check us out, I promise it's only going to get better. Hmm, that makes it sound like it's shitty now, oh well. I'm tired of writing.
