First I want to say, I don't think I'll ever be done with the gamer community. But I truely believe I've hit the "wall." The wall I speak of it which I do not care any more. I could care less about games almost at this point. I still play as much as I ever have, but I don't comment, I don't try to post blogs (proof is from the last blog) I've continued to lurke. But I haven't checked the community boards. I don't goto IGN, Kotaku, WoW insider. I have taken this road of I shall not care when such and such game comes out any more. The ONLY game I was hyped for was the force unleashed and that was an amazing 5 minutes (get my joke?) of gameplay. Hell I didn't even know about this whole DSi thing till a week ago. Getting me to buy a game is almost impossible now. Wrath is coming out soon, and I've been an avid WoW player sense day 1. But I don't think I'm going to buy it. Gow2 looks fine, but I just don't care.
Its not like I've found some new hobby or something to occupy my time, if that was the case I wouldn't still be up at 7am writing a blog for the first time in months about my inability to care about video games. I don't know the next big title, no I don't care about Halo 4, FF 13, LBP. I want to play Fallout 3 but I can't bring my self to spend 60 dollars on a game. I do play Warhammer a lot now which is a GREAT time kill. but if my computer suddenly died and I couldn't play I don't think I would shed a tear. I still love the community and can't wait for the next NARP in my area. My question is has anyone else just stopped caring? I mean sure I know a good game when I see it, but when it comes to the games coming out, and stuff like that I just cant get excited any more. This has been going on for a good 4 months so I don't know if its me or just because games suck nowadays
Sry for the crappy blog its 7am I'm tired and I was just wanting to express some feeling about where I'm at in video games.
In happy video game news Cod5 beta is pretty fun (please stop sending me invites to Gow2 I will kill all of you)

Personally I was interested in Dead Space, Fallout 3, and Gears 2. But instead of buying those games, I went and bought a bunch of PS1 games off ebay.
If the new games aren't interesting you, that's alright. Perhaps if you feel like it, you can get some older games that you might have had a passing interest in but missed.
If money is the issue you could probably find some good games in a bargain bin somewhere (The Red Star, God Hand, Viewtiful Joe). Or there's XBLA/PSN and how every many good games you can get there for cheap.
But hey, if you're good with what you got, what more do you need?
Perhaps you feel the whole game hype-machine is becoming too much. I kind of wish things would just come out without many pre-conceptions to think about.
You'll be looking back and wondering what the hell happened in a few months time, back to loving the whole thing, or maybe not. It's not unusual to get tired of something.
Try "Infinite Ryvius", "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
I have this weird thing about getting pumped about a lot games coming out, but after actually getting them home. Play them for a while & then they just sit on the shelf for a few months till I finally come back & maybe play them again. Remember when SKATE was first announced, & Burnout Paradise.... Even Mario Galaxy I haven’t finished yet.
The Worst offender of them all though is, SSBB. I was on the Smash site EVERY Day, following it for F*&ing five months, IGN all that, before its LONG Australian release, I very nearly imported the US version at one stage. As soon as I got it in the mail, was excited as hell! Played it for a day, ......"eh, this is cool" Haven’t played it since. Seriously. Just haven’t got around to it.
So if it’s just a bit of re-assurance you want then you got it! “Don’t worry; it’s just natural for some people to fell that way.” –Though once you Hit 30, it’s all OVER!
Hey, you know what I did a couple of weeks ago. After reading the “Girl-WLTT” Manga & countless re-runs of FLCL, I bought two baseball bats L&R handed baseball gloves, balls & now hit the ball on the beach in the after noon, or at the footy oval every Saturday night with me mates! Coming from an aussie, “Baseball is SO fun!”
Now, i just have pc and ps2, and i can't afford any console right now (not that i mind), so my comment might not weight much. Really, everything new looks nice, but it's stuff i really don't mind missing out on. Metal gear 4 i thought i had to play, then i just watched the cutscenes on youtube, finding out the ending. Pretty cool, but not worth the time and money.
I don't know how old you are, but i think i'm growing out of gaming. Maybe you are too.
As Kapkomi said, sometimes I regress and play older games. At the moment, I'm doing a play-through of Castlevania: Circle of the Moon and starting Bully over from scratch.
And Lastskysamurai, I am in the same boat with SSBB. I checked that damned site every day...even on the weekends, when I knew there would be no updates. I'd read about previews, speculations, anything SSBB-related. Got the game on release day, took it home, beat the sub-space missions...and that was it. Probably played it for about a week or two. Compared to the length of time I played Melee, it really wasn't worth it. It's a great game, don't get me wrong...but it was just a polished version of Melee. It didn't really take the franchise in a different direction. It gave us more of the same. And the online aspect was really disappointing. I'd play with a friend of mine that lives about 5 minutes away, and I think we had 1 out of 10 matches that was lag-free.
It also doesn't help that used games are no where near as price dropped as they were in the ps2 generation. Skate, the Club and Halo 3 are STILL $55 used at GameStop. Kinda ridiculous. It just not the same landscape of aftermarket game enjoyment, which really kept *me* going when I was kinda losing interest/enjoyment a few years back.
For some reason the MMO market tends to kill off my gaming habit and make it into a chore or job rather than actually being fun.
I don't feel as if most games are complete products anymore. It feels as if they're just platforms for DLC; repeatedly dipping their hands into gamer's pockets once they make the initial purchase.
The exceptions (Valve, Criterion with Burnout Paradise) are far outnumbered by everyone else.
The hype machine has to go too. Too many crap games with multi-million marketing campaigns and not enough development time.
I think its because I'm getting old. I'm 32; my priorities have undergone a seismic shift in the past year. So yeah, I'm growing out of gaming. I'll just stick with fighting games, Left 4 Dead and the occasional DS game during my commute. That's all I have time for anyway nowadays.
@Rearpar I love you too darling :)
