I'm a 26 year old gamer living in Texas. I'm a huge RPG nerd with somewhat of a penchant for good FPSs (BF3). I'm also a huge media junkie, though no reality TV. Graduated from college in 2007 and found a job. The extra income is great, but sadly it comes at the expense of having a lot less time to play games/watch TV. I own a 360, PS3, PS2 and Gamecube.

FFIV - To DS or not to DS

So today, I will go pick up my copy of FFIV for the DS. Problem is, I don't own a DS. My original plan back October-ish (when I first heard of the remake) was to buy a DS when it came out in the US. But then, all these rumors came up of Nintendo announcing a new DS at E3. I decided to wait for them to release that one, and then buy it. Alas, E3 has come and gone, and no new DS was revealed.

My question is, do I buy a DS or try to hold out a little longer? Maybe they'll announce it at TGS. With my luck, 2 days after I buy it, the new one will be released. So that's why I am very hesitant right now.

What do you guys think?

I suggest buy one. Then again, I've had a priapism for FFIV DS for a while now, so don't listen to me.

I say fuggit.

Pickup a DS Lite (which is just a sweet design, still) and consider trade-in/repurchase whif there's an announcement for a DS redesign.

Besides, from what I heard, the redesign will do away with GBA slot support and will be cheaper.

I'd say go on and buy one. If Nintendo DOES redesign the DS, it would more than likely get rid of the GBA slot to make it thinner. Maybe make the screens bigger. Oh, and I also heard something about a tits add-on.

What your afraid of is exactly what happened to me when I bought my DS Phat. I played until the next christmas, sold it to my cousin for 80 bucks and bit the bullet. DS Lite is worth it, I don't think Nintendo will redesign it until after they announce a new handheld (GBA Micro style). You have nothing to worry about! I just wouldn't suggest going to EB to trade in you DS, sell it to somebody you know.

There won't be a "NEW" DS...maybe a new color but I wouldn't hold your breath on a new DS design. Heck, I still have the ORIGINAL DS.

Also, doesn't this game come out tomorrow? DO WANT! Despite the fact that I have it for GBA and SuperNES still.

If you got no DS, don't buy the game. It's pointless.

Wow, yep, very unanimous. I guess I'm getting a DS :).

Also, strange coincidence, I go check my mail today, and therein lies my Japanese copy of FFIV I ordered from Play-Asia (I really liked the Japanese cover, so I decided to get both). So yeah, both copies of FFIV on the same day!! Can you say best day EVAR!!

See, what I'm doing is holding out hope that there's gonna be a Chrono Trigger/DS bundle. I have the original red Mario Kart DS, but the DS Lites are tits. TGS is in October, so I assume there won't be any major, new announcements until then. Think you can hold off that long?
