Yeah, it's been a while, folks. You have our sincerest apologies for that. Hopefully your ears are still hungry for our sound-meats because we have a lovely new episode baked and ready for immediate auditory consumption! Join Secret Moon Base's Occam and knutaf as they discuss every spoilerific detail of Bioshock Infinite with returning fan-favorite, Stevil, and soon-to-be-fan-favorite, Wrenchfarm! Both men had a lot to say, which is good because that's the whole idea of recording these things, right? Plus, no Corduroy this time. How could this episode get any better?
Besides Infinite, Wrenchfarm has been playing a lot of that cool, new Batman fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, along with probably too much MechWarrior Online. Stevil's been blasting his way through sleeper hit Binary Domain and loving on XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Meanwhile, Occam has been straight up perforating Nazi genitals in Sniper Elite v2 and breeding sea scorpions in Jurassic Park Builder for iOS. And finally, between his regular Dark Souls injections, knutaf's been streaming his playthrough of the amazing Eternal Darkness, snagging some more medals in Trials Evolution and fumbling through the confusing, nightmarish hellscape that is Starseed Pilgrim.
For those wanting to avoid **BIOSHOCK INFINITE SPOILERS**, you'll want to stop at the 28 minute mark. Just a heads up!
You can stream this episode directly from the link above, or subscribe to us on iTunes for easy access to all of our episodes.
Also, we didn't skip episode 032, we just failed to post up a blog! If you haven't already heard it, we were joined by Dtoid's sweetheart, smurfee mcgee for an all listener question extravaganza! Here it be:
Howdy, folks! We've got another hefty episode here, ready for audible consumption. Although we were down a man (Occam, our pop culture expert) we were lucky enough to be joined by our Twitter buddy Robert Dickau! He's a fellow puzzle gamer and an all-around intelligent guy, which made him the ideal guest for this episode about... puzzle games!
I don't think any of us realized exactly how vast of a topic this was going in. At nearly 3 hours long, this is our longest episode yet! We covered everything from Tetris and Dr. Mario to modern classics like Portal and Antichamber, as well as just about everything in between. Check it out!
You wouldn't know it from the title (or the header pic, for that matter) but this week's episode is all about the pros and cons of touchscreen games. Joining us this week is an expert on the matter, who also happens to be knutaf's wife, magpie! You may also know her as @leiapico on Twitter. Listen as her and Occam talk about important things like feeding dinosaurs and their favorite Vampire: The Masquerade clans while Corduroy and knutaf sigh loudly and pout. Well, maybe that was just Corduroy...
We tried something a little different this week and let the topic-relevant listener questions guide the main conversation instead of saving them all for the end. Overall, I think it worked out pretty well. As usual, hit us up on Twitter (@theSMBpodcast) if you want to ask us a question. If 140 characters isn't enough, just shoot us an email (theSMBpodcast [at] gmail [dot] com).
Thanks again to magpie for being a wonderful guest and of course thanks for listening. See you next time!
I want Christoph Waltz to read me bedtime stories.
Aaaaaand we’re back! Occam, knutaf and Corduroy have once again joined forces and recorded a two and a half hour conversation, just for you! We had been apart for a while so it was great to hear their voices again. As a result, there's a fair amount of NVGR talk at the beginning but it's all good stuff.
But make no mistake, we did play a lot of games. Corduroy played too much Letterpress and finally finished The Walking Dead. His opinion may (not) surprise you! Knutaf shares his thoughts on Analogue: A Hate Story and played some lame seek-and-find games on the Surface. Also, Dark Souls. Occam built a dinosaur park on his new iPad and became the white savior in Far Cry 3. Sadly, shark punching is not allowed... 3/10.
Of course, we can't forget about our lovely listener questions. Thanks to everyone who contributed! We threw up a blog last week asking for questions and got a pretty good response so we may continue to do that. Either way, you can always find us on Twitter (@theSMBpodcast) or send us an email (theSMBpodcast@gmail.com) if you have any questions, comments or criticisms. See you next time!
Hey! Secret Moon Base is back for 2013 and we're recording a brand new episode tomorrow night! Usually we gather our questions on Twitter but we wanted to give some our non-Twitter friends here on the Cblogs a chance to join in on the fun too.
We won't necessarily be discussing a specific topic tomorrow. We'll just be catching up with each other, maybe talking about some recent news and (of course) answering anything you guys and gals want ask us! It can be videogame related, which is cool, or non-videogame related, which is badass too. Either way, we'll do our best to satisfy your query and you can catch our answers when we post the new episode!
Oh, and we have a new logo now! Corduroy (me) probably spent too long working on it but he (me, again) thinks it turned out pretty good. Anyway, talk to you all soon!
Hello, Destructoid readers! Can you believe that Secret Moon Base has been around for a year? That's nuts. We started this podcast way back in January and have spent the whole year talking your ear off about the video games, movies, sex positions, food, hot guys, Wu Tang members, and pretty much whatever else was on our minds. It's been a blast so far and we will continue to hone our craft and keep these episodes coming in 2013. Woohoo!
BUT! It's still 2012 and we have one last thing we need to get off our chest before we welcome the new year. There is no shortage of awards getting tossed around and we wanted in on some of this action. So we wrote up some unique categories, made our picks and, for good measure, sent them out to our former guests to see what they had to say as well! We collected all the data, made ourselves a drink, finished dinner, and recorded the most comprehensive video game awards show we've ever produced! You may be surprised by some of our picks!
Give it a listen and give us some feedback, if you're so inclined. What did you love? What should we change for next year? If you want to get involved, find us on Twitter (@theSMBpodcast) and ask us a question. Thanks for listening!
