I'm getting pretty sick of PC assholes. Remember back in the day when it was acceptable to say something is gay? Even if it wasn't literally gay, it was fine to say that it was. Oh yes, I remember those times. But now we have gaygamer.com to monitor what everybody says.
Now if I say something or somebody is gay, they say "could you please stop with the hate speech?" Wow, now THATS gay. I don't even have anything against gays. When I say something is gay, quit being such a nanny.
"You're such an asshole conservative!" No, actually, I'm not. But I'm not a pussy liberal either. I have no political affiliation so please get the fuck out of my face before I cut your lips off with a steak knife.
If you're gay, fine, I don't care. Do what you want. Just don't tell me what I can or can't say. Just accept the fact that I'm never going stop saying something because it offends you. "Mother fucker", does THAT offend you? I'm going to fart, is that OK with you? Is that offensive? What, you like that? Thats disgusting, never mind.
Lesbians? Now I can identify with them. Especially the big, manly ones.
I'm going to go play some video games while gay guy call me "fag" or something racist.
Its all fun and games till somebody gets called something racist.
Gay!!

See what I did there? I used a term with which a group of people identify themselves and made it mean "sucks".
When you say something's gay, you don't necessarily sound hateful -- just stupid and of limited vocabulary.
Why don't you try using actual insults/swear words. Learn some new words/phrases.
I do agree with your point that you have complete freedom to say whatever you want, but you might want to just put a little more thought behind what you say. You might have a gay friend that's who's not out yet and you're hurting the shit out of him. Sure you might not care if he's gay or not, but your word usage could be sending him another signal.
You have to remember very few of us are marked with pink stickers, glitter, or blinking neon signs that say "Fabulous!"
Anyway, I don't think I could put it better than what Flameon said. You seem to remember the "good old days" when nobody cared when you used the word "gay" as a negative descriptor. Gee, then, don't you wish we could go back even further when your Dad might tell you to stop being such a n*gger? Them was the good days, right?
People move on. Hopefully, we get smarter when we move on, or at least more tactful. I'm very sorry for your loss, but it's not so much "PC" as it is just respecting other people.
On the other hand, saying "gay" started out as a "nicer" way to say "homosexual," unless I'm mistaken. So when you use it as a derogative term, you're adding negativity to it that wasn't originally there.
It's still offensive of course. It's just in the first case you're using the negative connotations, and in the second case, you're creating them. Some would argue the second case is worse.
words don't kill people, video games kill people.
No, I'm not a regular there.
