How do you play backups on the Dreamcast?

I'm thinking about buying a Dreamcast just to play backups and homebrew on it. I never owned a Dreamcast or played many of the games, and I heard its easy to play backups and homebrew on it.

Is it possible to just burn a Boot disk? Any websites or information on doing so would be great. Also, how big are the games usually?

Truth be told, it's not difficult to do, just time consuming and annoying if you don't unpack the files properly. Most good disc rips will be self boot, so unless you've got a physical copy of something of Japanese flavor, don't worry about a boot disc. "Don't" google "Segahub" to "not" find what you're looking for.

The system is *dead*, but there are still new games coming out in Japan, shooters mostly. Also, Sega re-releases special Dreamcast editions sometimes, so the laws are there for a reason. This is not the place to ask about this and i hope a moderator will ban this article soon.

If its full of assholes like Lightthrower then I won't get involved. I know there are some good guys in there that would freely talk about the topic of backups, then there are a few anti-piracy crybabies that are on their periods in there that will turn it into a very hostile environment.
