It's become a bit of a staple in fighting games to have a few characters that seem to be specifically made for boys who have just given birth to a rising desire to see the female body.
I'm sure there have been plenty of times when you were cycling through the character select screen, paused on Ivy, snickered, then picked Kilik. It's sad, we know it's sad, but there's a reptile buried in all that mammalian gray matter and it must be sated! So, you're with a couple of friends you're playing a new fighter and you pick a chick wearing a tight leather one piece with metal pieces that must surely chafe. Your friends snicker, you do as well, but your girlfriend walks in sees who you're playing and shakes her head in disappointment. What do you do now? Well, you need to man up, you didn't pick this fine lady just to stare at her...okay, you did, but we're in the here and now, there's a fight going on! Pause the game, there should be an option labeled command list. Yes, this woman has moves that allow her to defend that leather bikini from being torn asunder! Take a look at these moves, see how they fare in combat. You might win, you might lose, you just need to see how they work.
Now that is over, it's time for RESEARCH! Go online, learn the basics of the game, special moves, attributes, strategies for your specific character, combo videos. You may have picked Ms. Jiggly for laughs, but the next time it's serious! Shoryuken.com, Gamefaqs.com, Dustloop.com, there are a myriad of pools of info for various fighting games that you can sift through to develop your skill with this character.
Also use google image search for fanart, and if it's a girl from a fighting game you can bet there are already doujins (japanese adult comics) that have been online since the game was announced.
Now you can take your sharpened skill and knowledge to your comrades, start the game, select your character, then as they snicker you shall stand tall and pronounce “This woman is not to be objectified! She is a powerful fighter, a skilled warrior! You shall pay for your snickering and leering in full, good sirs!”. Hopefully, you will have actually practiced and learned to use her instead of looking at doujins online, so pick tasteful alternate colors or costumes and have at it. These women may have been used to draw you in but you'll quickly learn that you're not looking at their bodies, costumes, or brief panty shots anymore but actually looking for openings in your opponent's defense, when to block, when to attack, what to combo. It's sad but true that sex sells and it is no more apparent than in fighting games, but remember that while a character may look like a shallow attempt to sell copies they usually have some depth and a learning curve underneath.
Also, if you're using I-No in Guilty Gear and trying to learn the FRC window of her Chemical Love, look for her panties.
