If you guys didn’t know already- SCIENCE RULES! Well maybe at least the Science and Discovery Channel do. If you happen to have the Science Channel in your overly priced cable package, I urge you guys to check out a series they are running on video games- RISE OF THE VIDEOGAME.

Apparently I am little late in watching this- cause the documentary originally aired back last November. It seems though The Science Channel is rebroadcasting the series. They broke the series down into 5-1-hour episodes:

Level one:
They talk about how the first video games got started- PacMan and Pong. Leading the way for modern games.

Level two:
Technology is now used to create more complex games and the game industry establishes its niche bringing characters and stories into videogames.

Level three:
3-D Technology is brought into game development and ethics in gaming begin to arise

Level four:
Simulation sandbox games and god games hit the scene. Also the definition of A.I. takes form

Level five:
From A.I. to emotions. Now games come full circle with technology being up there with graphics.

The creators of the series took an interesting approach and talk about the technical aspects of gaming and its roots then the creators shift their focus toward sociological views how video games are presented as having an impact on social life, and vice versa. Then going to interaction between gamers and developers moving to mods and machinima presenting as proof that gamers take over the creation of content in video games.

Its always cool to see people of the industry talk about how shit werks. Def worth a watch or a DVR of you got a chance.

Ok, so I know this is a gamer blog. So I wont give a full reveiw or snyopsis about the I AM LEGAND movie, but since XBL was giving away free I AM LEGAND gamer pics and wallpaper... I've decided that this warants a blog post.

If you've read the book- then you know nothing can replace the book. But seeing how the book was written in the 50's most people probably dont have it on their current reading lists(not yet at least). So I wont compair the book to movie, but I will tell you they are vastly different.

But I will compair the XBL I AM LEGAND downloadable content to the I AM LEGAND movie. The movie was better than the gamerpics- those are some lame gamer pics. I swear that I got 2 of some stupid building. The wallpaper is all the same too- not even one little image of Will Smith either... just NYC wrecked up. (glad it was free)

First off the previews!!! Like I said before. I am a huge HYPE WHORE. I suck that hype up all day long!! So keep feedin' me!

1st preview: Cloverfield-
Damn I wish those editors were not so good at editing. Everytime i try to see a glimps of that movie- they show something blow up!! Damn fire!

2ndly: Dont Mess with the Zohan
Adam Sandler FUNNY! Sandler is a ex-Mossad agent who tries to become a hairstylist. Should be pretty damn boner-riffic.

Well this movie certainly seems epic. If I had to discribe it: 300 meets Apocolyptico in Africa.

FOURTHly: Dark Knight-
Bad ass movie... cant wait. Although I have to say I was worried about Heath Ledger screwing up the Joker. I know he's a pretty unconventional actor, but I really cant wait. Looks like a balls to the bat movie.

Ok, so enough hype. As a stand alone movie I would say that I AM LEGAND is not too bad. If your'e going in there to thinking to see massive carnage- Van Helsing style... be weary this is not that type of a movie. If your'e a Will Smith fan truthfuly I have seen Will Smith do better work too. I'll just have to wait for it, and now I can delete the stupid I AM LEGAND downloads.

Or as I like to call it EA/MTV/Verizon One Huge Commercial Show. I can’t help to think advertisers are not influencing any winners-but I just know… Don't hate the players hate the game.

1st off what's up with that award? It seems the Vector Monkey is having hard times with the smoking... a smoking monkey, not original... and red? The gold of plated vector money of years past was way better looking! Only surprise moment that I was actually excited to see where Big Black dropped the hammer to give huge props to EA Skate over Neversoft.

Best Xbox 360 Game? Best PS3 Game? Best Wii game? They had to give at least one award to each system. I thought its funny they gave the Breakthrough Technology award The Orange Box- that’s huge props to a great game and a testament how good the engines are to a slew of games that uses the 3 year old Havok and Steam engine. I was excited about the studio award. Until I saw Harmonix. Isn't MTv in bed with Spike, I mean they are both owned by Viacom right?? Not that I'm choppin Harmonixs glory... It just seems interesting to me how it made a great segway for the bullgod- Kid rock to rip it up out on the mic.

I should mention the world premieres were not anything special... I was not terribly excited about the New Rainbow 6 Vegas 2- but of course they never show any damn game play footage... I mean I think they even had some lame live action crap at the beginning. Besides how many times is Vegas going to be under siege here.
Borderlands- looks promising or at least I'm a sucker for hype... Trust me I'm all about hype. I was the first to buy Kane and Lynch. Hey Patton Oswald DON’T make fun of gamers on a gamer awards show, and trust me your still gay. Also what's up with the most addicting game award? Is that really a good award to win? I guess its good because it’s more of a gamer’s choice award since it was the only award where fans could vote for.

One saving grace of the VGAs was a chance to see the Video Games Live Orchestra playing. I saw them 2 years ago in Boston and it was awesome! If you’re a big fan of da music and of course video games it’s a great show to check out. A pretty good date thing to do. Especially good to impress the ladies as they think you’re cultured by bringing them to a live orchestral event but its cool because you actually will know what the song is about.

Bioshock grabbed the vide game of the year award- I cannot disagree with this one Bioshock is 1 of the best gaming experience I've had is a long time. And I recommend it to anyone looking for a great game to play. Although Half-Life 2 episode 2 truly fantastical!
Seeing actual game play footage of Little Big Planet might actually make me buy a PS3... Maybe. It was by far the best world premier cause it showed pretty much all game play footage. Although Prototype got me warm and burny

Finally what up with the King of Kong? Is he that good he can just break his record every time he wants? To me that would require some kind of prep work.

Anyway Spike Video Game Awards are pretty crappy… too much advertising. I couldn’t help to think that they just wanted to me to buy shit. Oh well I guess I’ll just have to wait for G-phoria.
