So on January 1st, I finally got Rock Band. I was ecstatic. Unfortunately, upon opening the massive box, I found out that the guitar controller was broken. It only strummed down, among a few other issues.
Later that night, or early the next morning (on January 2 at 2:00AM) I filed for a new guitar on the Rock Band support website. On January 11th they still hadn't sent me a box to return the guitar in, but emailed saying that Canadian customers weren't required to return the broken peripherals in order to receive new ones.
Finally, today on January 17, I received the new guitar and promptly went home to put it through its paces since I haven't had the chance to use the Fender controller yet (I borrowed my friend's X-plorer so I could still play the guitar portion or Rock Band.)
Unfortunately, the 2nd, new guitar seems to be broken as well... although, not as broken as the other one. I'm afraid if I send this one back, they'll test for a minute or two and not deem it broken.
The strum bar now strums both up and down, but in order for it to register I have to strum really quite hard which is both unnatural and uncomfortable. The Xbox guide button works inconsistently, sometimes needing 6 or 7 pushes before it registers. And the guitar effects menu will randomly pop-up during a song even though I have not touched the guitar effects switch.
If you just plink around with the guitar for a few notes though, it'll seem to work ok and I'm worried they'll deem it working and send it back or something. Has anybody else had this issue? I just want to play Rock Band without issues!
That really sucks. None of my equipment has malfunctioned... yet... But I do wish the drum set was more stable and heavier. I might have to get to work on that one someday.
My Guitar was broken within 15 minutes of playing on Christmas day, stuck with the GH3 guitar till just two days ago. It took the fuckers like 3 weeks to replace it. I was gonna demand a free game, but I don't have an interest in what they were offering. Hopefully this one won't break.
I had the same thing happen to me. I got Rock Band on the 1st and my guitar broke within the first hour. It can only strum up and the 360 button likes to never work. I sent in a request that same day and they said they'd 2-day Air Mail me the replacement guitar within the week. I have yet to receive the box and according to the Status on EA, the parts are boxed, but it's been that way for several days now. Hopefully I can get it back soon...I'm ready to play some freaking guitar solo tour.
The latest X-Box magazine has an article on how to fix broken Rock Band controllers. I am at work now so I can't look and see exactly what it says but if you want I can scan it in tonight and send it to you and maybe you can at least get your strum bar working OK. Let me know if you want it.
I opened mine up and tightened the screw and it's worked fine since. I followed the instructions from here: http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=40188
I hope that helps! It doesn't void the warranty to open it so you may as well try.
It does seem as if the guitar itself is just very poorly designed, the strum bar feels incredibly flimsy. I'm surprised there's no class action lawsuit starting. As for the drum pedal, I've seen how some people kick the hell out of that thing, so damage to that isn't as surprising.

What kinds of games make him funny in the tummy? Fighting and Music games are my bread and butter, but kart/arcadey-racing and puzzle games would be my peanut-butter and jam. RPGs are my peach marmalade, and FPS/War/Sports games are my olive topinade (in other words, ewwwwww gross).
Favourites? Space Channel 5: Part 2, Xenogears, Soul Calibur 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3/3rd Strike, Smash Bros. Melee

No pedal problems yet?
I'm really just expecting the Mic to stop functioning now, everything else has had some problems.
i'd send it back, EA is aware they're hardware is faulty and shouldn't give you too hard a time.
Does anyone have rock band and NO broken controllers?

Only lucky bastards or people that suck at it.

My guitar has to be strummed real hard to work and the d-pad on the drum barely works.
My friend snapped his foot pedal.
