To tell you the truth I wasn't really too interested in watching the new Indy movie, then I saw the trailer for the movie a few months ago and my interest shot through the roof. However I don't really have good track record for catching movies that I want to see in theatres, hell I only went to the movies three times last year (300, Spider-Man 3 and the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer). I even missed out on Ironman which I didn't really have high hopes for but everyone who seen it seems to love it more than Batman Begins. Just chalking it up due the fact that I don't live in Urban or rural areas, I have to travel 40 to 60 minutes just to get to the theatre. Not to mention paying for gas, the movie ticket and food/drink; also feeling burned because you spending nearly $50.00 to watch a movie and it turn out to be disappointment. There isn't enough incentive to watch a movie in the theatres when the DVD is going to be out in 5 months, as oppose to ten years ago when home releases took way longer than it did today. Well in the event that I do go see Indiana Jones this weekend or the next; I still have to watch the first three which I haven't watched in 4 years.
As for The Dark Knight, I didn't watch Batman Begins in the theatre either; I don't even think that I did go the movies that year. However I'm excited over Batman: Gotham Knight, say what you will about the Japanese handling the image of certain parts of the Batman mythos. Most people will agree that the inclusion of Bruce Timm (the creator of Batman: The Animated Series) and other talented comic book scribes is going to make it worth watching. It's very understandable what they’re doing with the project; not having the stories within the feature connect in anyway but having certain themes and ideas that surround Batman do. Plus any one who did catch any of the Batman cartoons in the ninety does know that Batman in animated form worked much better than all the live action films during that era.
