Not gonna lie, I expected videos of jiggling asses alongside mario bros. and the like.
Del tha Funkee Homosapien wrote a song about the Dreamcast about six or seven years ago.
eminem did a song based on soul calibur before he was famous. judging by the quality of the song it isnt surprising he wasnt famous at the time though

and calling this rap is a bit too much, but pacman makes an appearance about half way through

Nice blog, and Norm9 is talking about is called "Proto Culture", another Dtoider told me about the tune, it's really good.
MadHatter and 8bit Bullshit. A concept album based on Captain N: The Game Master and a bunch of old-school NES games.

Totally free, and totally worth a listen for "TKO" alone.
Crap, BBCode fail

Oh No is an avid gamer, and I think he sampled some Castlevania in his tracks "Move" and "The Ride" from his album The Disrupt.
He's also Madlib's brother. So that counts for a lot of stuff.
Jedi Mind Tricks has a track called "Bloody Tears", with the beat based off of the Castlevania tune by the same name. Lyrics are NVGR, but they work the beat pretty well.

I kind of think of these guys as a bargain bin Wu-Tang. They come out with alot of melodic beats from pop-culture, but their lyrics are not *quite* as hot as Wu
Mega Ran 9 is coming out soon, and I'm really excited for it
lolwut?
at the beginning of the 1st OGC album you can hear them playing NBA Jam for genesis
Common says the line 'whip anyone's ass at NBA Live' on De La Soul's Stakes is High album
There's a line in a Stetsasonic song where someone mentions playing Atari
Super Cocoa Brovas - formerly smiff n wessun sampled the world 1-2 music from super mario bros and made a song out of it. It's famous.
...and on and on and on and on. There are a shitload of videogame references in hip hop, and the nerdy bay-area/cali rappers do it all the time.
Big Daddy Kane has a song called Mortal Combat, and talks about 'flawless victories' in a lot of his songs. He also says 'i'll beat your ass like a game of nintendo'
House of pain - 'trying to play me out like as if my name was Sega'
I could be at this all day folks. Hip hop and videogames are near-synonymous and the new school nerdy rap cats are late to the party and not doing it as well.
I own a copy of Shaolin Style only because I love Wu-tang so much.
I play MC's like a game of Mario Brothers I hold my own plus I can carry another's - Lord Finesse
Hip Hop and Gaming are my two passions in life I can't live without them.
I can't link to it because I'm posting from my phone, but there's an awesome video game song on my Dtoid blog by People Under the Stairs.
lupe fiasco mentions street fighter in his rap sometimes.
"i like street fighter 2,
i just really hate zangief.
only ken and ryu,
i find it hard to beat blanca."
-lupe fiasco, from "gold watch"
