I picked up an iphone this week, hit up the app store and i saw this RPG "Vay" that was described as "a Sega CD RPG" so I did a tiny bit of research and it looked like a fairly standard RPG, but when i loaded it up ($4.99, worth it)...... well it was fairly generic, but it is oozing with character. I never played the original but I read somewhere the dialogue has been redone. It feels pretty fresh and new. When you open a chest you say stuff like "a fog machine, AWESOME"

Gameplay is standard SNES glory-day-gameplay. you move around by touching where you want to go, kinda like that Zelda game on ds i think. You can double tap when you have a long distance and your dude will fucking haul ass! in towns and on the world map about 2/3rds of the screen is the map/environment and on the right you have sort of a party-breakdown thing. when you go into battles it goes full screen and has surprisingly clean graphics. It looks like the battles are were made 2 generations later and they are quite pleasant. You just touch a command and then an enemy and boom, done. You can also tap an AI button, that will speed things up (it's basically just an auto attack, your chars will do nothing but attach until you tap the screen again.

I don't want to make too much of the story as I'm only a few hour in (estimated 40 hours to complete) but there are many parallels with whats going on in the world today like rising fuel prices, high tech vs low tech war and other issues. I'm not sure if this was intentional or added in the port but it pulled me in somewhat.

my only complaints so far, is in shops you buy shit by touching it with no confirmation. Hasn't been a problem but worth mentioning. also sometimes when your trying to talk to someone you can't quite get them to speak. (i've found trying to walk through them is easier than trying to tap right on them.
