This week is the release of the game known as Rock Band in Germany, France and Great Britain. This guide was originally created to help people make a proper purchasing decision for themselves. I heard of a deal at HMV which will allow you to purchase the game for 40 pound. I have added some new DLC information in this final version of the this blog. Also, if you want to you can now purchase all of the DLC songs that have been released so far in America right now.
So, the European Union will finally get a taste of Rock Band but alas it is not without
controversy and issues. I know a great deal of info about this game so I will share every
thing that I know about this game with you.
The owners of the 360 version will be able to use any of the previous versions of the Guitar
Hero controllers. So f you already own two Guitar Hero games with controllers then you
have your two guitar controllers ready for play.
Another benefit to owning a 360 version is you can use the 360 headset to do the singing. I
order to do the tambourine rhythm sections, you use the A button since you already need
to use the controller to navigate the menus. So, there is your microphone. You can have
three out of the four necessary items to play Rock Band.
If your equipment breaks, EA has been very generous with replacement equipment. So,
you can send back broken equipment very easily.
Play.com is selling the instrument bundle and the game itself for 140 pounds.
If you still can't afford that, my suggestion to all of those who are interested in this game is
to pick it up game by itself and if you have a little more money, think about purchasing the
drum kit.
For PS3 users, you can import the game because it is region free.
If you do you want to import and plan to buy some of the DLC, look up something called
"entropay", it will allow for foreign PS3 users to purchase DLC from the American
marketplace.
Be warned, if your equipment does break, you cannot RMA it back to EA and you will stuck
with broken equipment
Also, unlike the 360 version, you cannot use the GH controllers in RB. Activision is actively
blocking a patch from HMX that would allow for the user to use the GH controller with RB.
This is all the info that I have for the Rock Band DLC. It includes all the songs that have
been released so far and all possible future releases. I kept the original dates so have an
understanding of how weekly DLC is released. HMX and MTV games are responsible for the
DLC, EA is strictly in control of the hardware.

Thanks to people at Scorehero for the list.
Mods:
One of the things that Rock Band players do is modify their equipment. Below are some
links to some of the mods that people use.
Band World Tour Mode explained: Band World Tour is the most interesting aspect of this
game. The mode allows four people to work together in order to progress through the
mode. You can name your band, create your band members, and create a logo for your
band, that logo will show up in certain venues in the game. As you progress, you will be
given challenges for playing certain sets. For example, the game will give you a DVD
Recording challenge which requires the group to obtain at least an average of 4 stars for
the set. If you are successful, you will gain triple the amount of fans that you would usually
get. If you fail, you will lose three times the amount of fans. It is very compelling stuff.
Below are a ton of videos of this game in action. This includes some of the DLC videos.
I hope this stuff helps our European users out a little bit. I personally consider this to be my
favorite game of last year and still actively play it, and if you can get it, please do. If you
have any other questions about game modes and other things, I will be able answer them
for you. Take it from some one who has spend a good deal of money on it by purchasing all
of the DLC songs, it was well worth it.
What I did was order an x-plorer guitar off e-bay (cost 30 euros total) and then got rockband off amazon.co.uk (cost another 57 euros). Done. Rock Band for ~110 euros. Mic and Guitar. No drums unfortunately, but I guess I might just get the band-in-a-box pack when I'm feeling rich.
