I'm not getting GH4 if I can't use the drums I have. Although the raised cymbals look nice, they are still using the crappy foot pedal. The structure itself also looks cheapy.
I might actually get Guitar Hero 4 now...considering I skipped on Rock Band due to the issues it was having with their instruments. Lets see how Activision's instruments hold up.
Seriously power-glove, uber kudos to you. You've been posting some really good stuff lately!
Also, while the drums look kind of cool I've already began looking down on the franchise once Neversoft and Activision got the rights. To me it just doesn't feel the same at all, and it almost feels like the quality isn't as good anymore. In regards to numerous things that I don't feel like getting into at the moment.
GH3 didn't feel the same right off the bat and it was kind of a shame. Once they announced Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, I was seriously like "uhh, wtf?"
They seriously need to work on the note pattern's too, the ones in GH3 felt like they were all over the place and in random spots frequently. Just looked and felt weird at times.
Damn it. I want this game. But I don't want to want it. I'm not supporting Activision whoring out the game past its roots. I just know its going to fucking fail. But I want Rock Band to have create your own songs and drums that cool. My only consolation is that Activision will charge an arm, a leg, and the death of Christian Bale for these.
GC, in the article they discuss how they plan to add open notes to the game which requires a strum with out any of the fret buttons pressed and the vocals in the game will scroll right to left.
I like the two flying cimbals. But those leg stands look ultra-shitty. I see those drums falling to thefloor every 3 songs. And the foot pedal not being docked somewhere=FAIL!
Not excited. The PS3 fiasco with compatibility made me not want to buy any more GH franchise games (that and wandering by the toy section at WalMart and seeing GH branded toys all over)
Who knows, maybe this could be a good thing. Gives an even better reason for Rock Band 2 to come out. Fuck Neversoft, but hopefully this encourages a sequel to Rock Band
@AngelsDontBurn: You just explained exactly how I feel about the Guitar Hero franchise ever since Activision/Neversoft took over. I LOVED the first two games, but the note charts in the third one were just absolutely ridiculous in places, and I stopped playing it less than a month after I bought it. I got Rock Band in mid-December, and I haven’t played my copy of GH III since.
These look cool, and I like that they added the cymbals in — but how can you not have the foot pedal locked to a center bar, like in the Rock Band drum set? Also, like Gynecologist Cobra, I don’t want to want this. I really don’t want to spend another $200 (or whatever this bundle is gonna cost) on fake plastic instruments, and if Activision is going to keep releasing songs in three-packs that cost $6.25, they can go to hell.
I actually just read the article, and it just seems like Activision/Neversoft are just making things up.
For instance, "The natural evolution of the game is to add more instruments. It's not like Harmonix even invented that. It's been in the arcades for years.
And yet, they think that they're changing the entire music gaming industry. I can't wait to see this all crumble.
It kind of sucks that they're essentially making us choose between GH and Rock Band. I haven't bought Rock Band yet and want to now, but now I'm faced with either committing to that or waiting for GH4 because the instruments are obviously going to be even less compatible than they are now. Heck, I'm still pissed that I can't use Rock Band Guitars for Guitar Hero (weren't Harmonix the ones preaching about compatibility?)
I'm definitely pretty skeptical about GH4. I've found Rock Band to be much more accessible than GH3 was, which just burned me by being difficult to the point of not being fun. If GH4 (or Aerosmith for that matter) are more like GH3 than the others then I'll definitely pass.
It hurts because they are the biggest whores in gaming and I dislike supporting them, but based on the features and the inclusion of The Eagles, I will most likely buy this Bullshit. I hate Activision, and that's saying something coming from me. I love greed and money, but they just go too far. They disgust me with their blatant rip-offs.

But yeah, you can't really call it Guitar Hero anymore if it's not just about the Guitar's. Why not call it Rock Band Hero and be done with it?
The custom track feature is sort of cool, but I'm not sure exactly what that entails. It's going to be a copyright cluster-fuck, I'm willing to bet.
