Yo East Coast, where you at?
Hello, fellow D-toiders, my name is Andrew and I reside in New York City. It has been such an amazing experience being a part of this wonderful community. From my activities as a host of the Friday Night Fight events to becoming one of the community members responsible for handling the Destructoid NY group, coordinating East Coast meetups to helping the PAX meetup group, I have loved every minute of my time spent with this community.
Please hang out with other Dtoid members whether it would on the main site chat to your local Dtoid group. It can be life changing, trust me on that.

The media group responsible for the 1up Network, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Games for Windows magazine, Ziff Davis has filed for chapter 11, according to foliomag. According to the article, Ziff-Davis is currently 400 million dollars in debt. I really hope for the best for the people at that company. There are some fine writers that work there and without them we would not get gold like this:

I don't think its them saying ok we give up. It them saying oh dude we gots some mad debtz! They seem to be trying to reduced and/or restructure this debt so it may involve lay offs but not the entire company being shut down. Hopefully not too many people will have to leave its a great network :(!

Its part of their restructuring precess they are going through, so its not like they are dissapearing. Its bad news though, I love the Ziff Davis group. They've given us 1UP YOURS and the amazing Shawn Elliot... and cant forget EGM, the only good game magazine left.
I hope the podcasts aren't affected. If so let it be shane.

It's not the end for ZD. They're basically just reorganizing to get out of debt.
