Yo East Coast, where you at?
Hello, fellow D-toiders, my name is Andrew and I reside in New York City. It has been such an amazing experience being a part of this wonderful community. From my activities as a host of the Friday Night Fight events to becoming one of the community members responsible for handling the Destructoid NY group, coordinating East Coast meetups to helping the PAX meetup group, I have loved every minute of my time spent with this community.
Please hang out with other Dtoid members whether it would on the main site chat to your local Dtoid group. It can be life changing, trust me on that.

Also, she admitted she has never played Mass Effect. Thus one can logically discern that a woman who has never played Mass Effect is more likely to objectify a man, while a Man that has played Mass Effect is less likely to objectify a woman. I think I need some random university to do a study on this, please!
Fox news sucks, but this is the case with all news I'm afraid. A news station my brother worked for reported he had been driving under the influence when he wrecked his car, however toxicology reports showed and proved otherwise.
Ironically, it was a Fox affiliate.

Also, about the parental controls, etc. Maybe if they TRIED using the xbox or reading the manual, or trying ANYTHING, they could figure it out. If they are so outraged and pissed about this kind of stuff, and they know there's controls on the system itself, why not actually TRY to use the controls instead of complaining that they shouldn't have to actually pay attention to what their kids are doing.
Who over dramatize anything & Everything anyways... Or get so lost in their own minds coming up with ubsurd justifications to propel the dialog to the next level. @ wich point the guest speaker in their offices or affiliated newsroom. Proceeds to run all over the good guy.

Also, can game companies hire their own advocates for these things. I find it rather disturbing that the media creator and distributors don't have either their own PR representatives to step in and debunk these things and even still, there's no representative from the ESRB or any industry standards association standing up and setting things straight in some capacity, leaving the front guard to the journalists, who assign their own passion to an arguement, and are forced to fight that passion in these heated situations.

Every time you see a mainstream network interview a prominent game industry figure, watch their tactics carefully. You'd think they're deliberately trying to piss the poor guy off, just to get a rise out of him so they can use his temper to discredit his arguments.

The details from the BBFC website (British Board of Flim Classification)-
MASS EFFECT is a role playing game and shooter set in the future in space. The player controls either a male or female American soldier through a long and involved story line, making choices along the way. The game has been classified at '12' for moderate violence and one sex scene.
The violence is undetailed and takes place in a futuristic setting. The single sex scene is brief and undetailed, although there is breast nudity in one version of the scene. The sex scene is triggered by the player making a series of choices about becoming more than friends with a colleague. If playing as a male character the scene can take place between him and a human woman or a humanoid female alien. If playing as a female character the scene can take place between her and a male human or a female humanoid alien.
The game also contains use of the word 'bastard' and at least one aggressive use of the word 'bitch'. Both of which are acceptable under BBFC Guidelines at '12'.

such a 'flood' of evil that comes of the internet! i think a lot more filth streams from the tube without you being able to control it ( just turn on a random news-show...) while online you basicly decide yourself whether or not your watching filth...
generally being online gives me a better feeling about humanity then watching the news simply because when I check the news online, I also get to see all the 'good' news while on the TV-news I only see how crappy our humanity is :-p
same with Mass Effect, if you don't want to bother screwing the alien, you don't have too... Also I think its funny they say the game objectifies women, I mean I've put in WAY more effort into getting this alien into bed then some of the women I've screwed in real life :-)
real life women aren't so difficult :p
