Cooper Lawrence lies to sound like she knows what she's talking about. Here is a direct quote from her debate with Geoff Keighley on Fox News:
"Darling, I gotta go with the research. And the research says there’s a new study out of the University of Maryland right now that says that boys that play video games cannot tell the difference between what they’re seeing in the video game and the real world…"
That "new study" is from 2005. What does it say?
100
college students with an average age of
19 were interviewed about violent depictions in games. The study showed that most of the students interviewed recognized that the games depicted negative themes and harmful stereotypes, but didn't think the content was harmful to
them. Can someone tell me when college student were ever considered adolescent "boys?" Here is a quote from just one of the 100 students interviewed:
"The game doesn't make people violent -- it's just a game," said one subject, a 19-year-old woman, in a confidential interview with Killen's research team. "If they're violent, it's something wrong with them."
Granted, some people have a hard time separating real life from fantasy. Most, if not all, of those people have mental problems. Problems that existed before they played video games.
I don't know about you guys, but playing videogames has made me believe that I can bang alien lesbians, shoot a cop in the head, and then take a hit from a rocket launcher without any consequences whatsoever.
Below is a link to the full article that talks about the study. The article does mention claims that adolescents are more vulnerable to impulsive behavior due to playing video games, but it does not mention where that research comes from. Nevertheless, it still seems to me that Lawrence misrepresented this study to bolster her bullshit claims on Fox News. I'm still waiting for her
response.

Well, fail on her part
well that's no surprise. I think must cooper lawrence has difficulty distiguishing reality from fantasy.
Sensational! Keep it up. Be sure to blog if she replies to you. Although I doubt she will.
To lie about a report....and lie about a 3 year old study at that.
This is just proving our point of people who don't know what they're talking about just needs to STFU.
Not only that, but Psychology studies don't prove anything; these studies only imply relationships. Some relationships are clinically significant; others are not. Even if a relationship is clinically significant, there are too many variables to prove causality. I did not finish my degree in Psych, but the knowledge still sits in my skull, which is more than I can say for Cooper.
I am win; she is fail.
HAHAH! Nice matlockery. Keep pushing until you get a response.
"Special Force 2" updates the 2002 video game with scenarios based on last summer's war between Israel and Hezbollah: players kidnap Israeli soldiers, fire missiles at an Israeli gunboat, and launch Katyusha rockets into Israel. When the game was released a Hezbollah press official, Sheikh Ali Dahir, described it as a recruiting tool stating, "The Lebanese child has the right to know what happened in the south so as to imitate the jihadist action and the act of liberating the land."
