My View on Mother 3 Translation
pezking6983 | 4:06 PM on 10.30.2008 5 comments

In regards to buying/pirating the game...

This will be short I promise.

I'm not going to lie and be on the bandwagon of people saying they don't pirate things. I know damn right as you post, you are leeching like no tomorrow. I do pirate things such as movies and software, but don't pirate many games since I play primarily on an Xbox. Even though I know it's possible to download games on it, I choose not to.

Now I feel that if everyone or even half the people that wanted to play Mother 3 with the fan translation bought an import copy for legalization purposes, Nintendo would be making more money for something that the fans localized. They should make the money from Japan and if they chose to ignore the fans here, they should not make any from us. I would much rather support the game by buying a soundtrack, or art book rather than the game that Nintendo refused to give us because games like Wii Music are so goddamn "important".

So all in all, I pirated it and I don't care. I stole from Nintendo. Pshhh.

The game is great so far...

my brother ganked it and gave it to me. I was gonna write about it, but I couldn't play more than 30 minutes. Ever since sinking 50 hours into random battles on Dragon Quest VIII and then realizing I couldn't win unless I spent another 15 juking my stats I haven't been able to play traditional line-em-up take-your-turns do-your-stupid-friggin-dance random battle RPGs. I loved Earthbound on the SNES, and thought I'd be able to make an exception, but I couldn't.

Sorry, Mother 3, people change, and I feel we've grown apart.

It's not you. It's me.

Wow, do you always confess this much when you do anything morally wrong?? haha

My philosophy is if I can't find what I want and it is too difficult to purchase, it's mine for the taking. Like I used to download a bunch of retro games, but now that they are on downloadable services such as WiiWare, I just pay for them. So it really varies for me from product to product.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
