Hey Dtoid. Welcome to perritoid!
I'm a 23 year old artist/teacher. While in University I experimented mostly with Animation, Video, and Games.
The lovely [dearly departed] Anthony Burch* featured the fruits of my experimentation here on Destructoid as part of the
Indie Nation Series Which probably is one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me! One of
many reasons why I love Destructoid.
*The [formerly] Resident Person Named Anthony Who Isn't Anthony Perri.
My first console was the SNES. It remains my favourite, and I've been playing games ever since without pause. Recently I've been a little burned out on the modern sensibilities of a suddenly overwhelmingly Western market. Most of the HD games don't appeal to me.
I currently live in Korea where I teach english and avoid Starcraft [and the north].

Why? Because you can't write blogs? The great thing about Dtoid is that it DIVIDES blogs and forums. Or, that they've got community blogs in the first place. There is a distinct difference between blogs and forums. Your blog? Forum post. Polls? Forum posts. Decent story? Blog post. There you go, easy as pie.
There are a lot of people only reading and posting on the forums and there are a lot that only look at and write blogs. Dtoid gives you the choice. Let's keep it this way.
I certainly don't want to read blogs about forum posts because guess what, that's what forums are for.
And what's wrong with lists? They're handy for all kinds of stuff. Do you want me to make a story out of the games I own?
"A long long time ago there was a kid named Takeshi. When he first walked into an arcade he was amazed by the looks of Afterburner... ...when he got older he decided to buy a NES, the first game he bought was Duckhunt etc etc."
You got the point. Boring as fuck. I don't want to write a story about the 100+ games I own. I just make a list. Handy as a motherfucker.
Also, MrSadistic, if you could keep your easily offended sex slave under control I'd really appreciate it.
all I want is feedback- wasn't criticizing you for your list making habits...Just wondering if anybody really reads them/ cares about them. If not- why should I bother. If so, I'll think about it.
Primo, I hope that's a wedding dress.
As for the sidebars, I've always known we needed something there but without a database-driven game library there's little we can do. That's another project :)
Really?? I don't think so, you are just generalizing the entire community here, this aint MySHITspace or FaceFUCKINGbook, where millions of people waste their time creating a profile which only their family members and close firends will read, this is Dtoid, the hardcore gamer community website.
I think it's safe to say that a good majority of people AT LEAST glance over what is written in the sidebar, why don't we, as fellow gamers, want to know what you have played, will play?? The community is second to none here, the side bar is there for a purpose, it to tell the community WHO YOU ARE, that's all.
The first thing I do after reading a blog is to look at the sidebar, to find out, first, who the hell wrote the blog, and to find out about that person, call it interest and curiosity, which we all have and use.
I'm sorry but I think the sidebar should stay, it adds personality, interest, depth to your blog and most importantly, makes a connection with the reader, is'nt that not important??
Also, thanks for making a poll of this!! :)
I voted, I hope a lot of people do!
Niero- It seems your one of the few who understand what I'm talking about. Maybe I didn't articulate it well here, I'm hoping that some went and read the forum. Anyways, its really interesting to hear that your thinking about this too. Looking forward to what you come up with, as always.
I don't understand why people are so strongly against forum/blog integration. Its a totally natural and expansive idea. I present information in my blog, but maybe I want to discuss it further in a space that isn't confined like comments are. The forums are all but dead and if I'm 'not allowed' to pose questions here than this community is not engaging in a conversation but rather is self-indulgent. The forums are important and if they were better implemented into the thriving blog community it could spur some great dialogue.
Can't believe some are taking offense to this.
"Can't believe some are taking offense to this."
I can't either.
As for the forum/blog integration, I really dont have an opinion, I haven't been on the forums yet and I'm also relatively new to Dtoid, so I dont really have a problem with anything right now.
