Hey Dtoid. Welcome to perritoid!

I'm a 23 year old artist/teacher. While in University I experimented mostly with Animation, Video, and Games.

The lovely [dearly departed] Anthony Burch* featured the fruits of my experimentation here on Destructoid as part of the Indie Nation Series Which probably is one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me! One of many reasons why I love Destructoid.

*The [formerly] Resident Person Named Anthony Who Isn't Anthony Perri.

My first console was the SNES. It remains my favourite, and I've been playing games ever since without pause. Recently I've been a little burned out on the modern sensibilities of a suddenly overwhelmingly Western market. Most of the HD games don't appeal to me.

I currently live in Korea where I teach english and avoid Starcraft [and the north].

Your complete guide to Destructoid

Help me make the best of my laptop.

I know. Forums are down though so I come here.

I've got a 6yr old Sony vaio laptop. Probably the worst purchase of my life. It was quite good for a year but has degraded into little more than a heavy space heater. The thing runs incredibly hot, I'm pretty sure that it's actually crippled itself because of it's P4 brain. Anyways, I've all but given up on it, I use it solely for typing up papers when nothing else is available. I've got a lot of software on it that I don't need and think I'm going to reformat.

Here's my question;

Can I do more with it?

It has a pretty nice screen which would be cool to use for...well anything else, don't know how to do it.

I was considering modding it to help it run cooler...Like a steel mesh case, but I've never done anything like that before.

What do you guys do when your computers die?

Using a laptop's screen outside of the laptop is hugely time-consuming, expensive, and really hard to do. I researched it when my motherboard fried on my last laptop, and never found anything remotely viable.

haha, thanks guys but I'm too violent. Plus I've got plenty of other weapons at my disposal. Nixium thats pretty great of you, I never even though of that.

CWAL, I did a bit of research and found nothing really that I could do. Too bad.

I will definitely reformat and see how she runs. Thanks guys.

-add more ram (be sure to follow instructions closely).

-while you're opening it, get a can of compressed air. Give it a good blow but be sure to secure the fan with a toothpick or something or it can damage the fan. After blowing out the dust, get a vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment to suck up all the accumulated dust, as always secure the fan.

-BEFORE formatting it, get CCleaner (free program) and let er rip. Then Defrag the hardrive. Then you reformat.

I'd give it away to someone else who doesn't have a laptop. but you seem like you want to keep on using it, follow redzie's davice then.

best laptop to get is a tablet, then go get puzzle quest and play it with the tablet pen. makes puzzle quest 15X more fun to play. just flick the pen to move gems.

Personally I don't think you should use that thing as a weapon cause I think I know who your gonna use it on, a particular friend who is a Sony fan boy. "You'll even be good at IRONY!" Why are you complaining about your laptop, the laptop I use is just strictly for typing, it cant run anything else other than Word, pinball and hearts. Mind you its like 8 years old. Reformatting sounds like a good idea for you, do that.
