Hey Dtoid. Welcome to perritoid!
I'm a 23 year old artist/teacher. While in University I experimented mostly with Animation, Video, and Games.
The lovely [dearly departed] Anthony Burch* featured the fruits of my experimentation here on Destructoid as part of the
Indie Nation Series Which probably is one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me! One of
many reasons why I love Destructoid.
*The [formerly] Resident Person Named Anthony Who Isn't Anthony Perri.
My first console was the SNES. It remains my favourite, and I've been playing games ever since without pause. Recently I've been a little burned out on the modern sensibilities of a suddenly overwhelmingly Western market. Most of the HD games don't appeal to me.
I currently live in Korea where I teach english and avoid Starcraft [and the north].

So long as its a real deal Dragon Quest title, that's awesome news. These games are traditional super solid, and this would be a ridiculously awesome addition to the Wii line up. COnsidering the severe lack of RPG on the Wii, this is amazing news!
They suck for bringing an RPG to an RPG-starved system? I think that's a good thing, actually. Not a Wii fan? :P
About that Reuters article: Whoa, a $65 DS game?
I'm a HUGE DQ superfan. I've played all eight of the main games and I'm PSYCHED to hear this news. Not so much for the announcement of it on the Wii (Most DQ fans have been speculating since the announcement of IX that X would be on a Nintendo console), but the fact that its being announced SO SOON. The past few years have had one DQ game per console generation. Announcing it on the Wii implies that it's been in development for a while and we won't have to wait until 2016 to play this one.
That makes me happy.
Ugh
DQ has never been very graphic focused and considering the enormous casual appeal of the DQ series in Japan, this was the only logical conclusion. People should be happy, that there is now ONE game (that won't be out until 2010) to look forward to on the Wii.
Japanese DS games tend to carry a rather hefty price tag compared to DS games in other regions. Expect to pay a premium for big titles like RPGs.
Also, if you don't have a Wii- 09 is prime time to get one, its coming of age, thankfully.
I think the reason for this is that SE want to push DQX onto PS2 aswell, so more japanese gamers can get their hands on it.
You'd think that SE would be more worried about selling this series outside of japan, especially with a recession on, and therefore spread it onto all home consoles (PS3/360).
However, I'm still yet to get a Wii, so if I do manage to get one, I'll pick this up.
