More on Madworld. [update:video is back]
by perri on 05.15.2008      12 comments

BlindsideDork informed me that IGN has just put up an article regarding the ultra-violent, deliciously stylized Madworld, brought to us, as I've said, the developer formerly known as SEEDS (also, Clover) IGN reveals that they're bringing out the big guns, with industry vets such as; Tatsuya Minami, Hideki Kamiya, Atsushi Inaba, and Shigenori Nishikawa involved. Independently these guys have brought us Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami- get excited.

Cassamassina divulges that the style is definitely working and there are some nice lighting effects that take advantage of the harch threshold effect: When entering a well lit area the character's skin will go white, while when in a dark area, a white outline will be all you see. It all sounds interesting but it's something I need to see running in order to level up my hype.

Definitely read the article, I was hoping the trailer would be released today, so keep an eye open for that. I think it's also note worthy that the game was demoed, and therefore is playable at this point in time. They are set to release the game next year and it was stated that they aren't yet reaching the hardwares limits. I'm expecting to be even more impressed in the coming months.

MadWorld: Stylish new Wii game from the developer formerly known as SEEDS (also, Clover...)

[UPDATE: It's down, everywhere, except Rapidshare. Here's the link- http://rapidshare.com/files/114602729/um_1095048-381759-madworld-1210675354.flv.html I assure you it is worth the short download!]

So, this generation I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by 'bald space marines' and 'brown' as I'm sure everybody else is, it's why I have a Wii. Sensless violence sort of looses its lustre after a while, but you may very well need it every now and then, right? Well where No More Heroes stepped in last year on the Wii, and Madworld looks to up the ante in many ways. The game has a unique style, high gore, and a seemingly riteous sense of humour.

Right now it looks a bit dirivitive - to be honest. But this is only a terrible trailer (all gameplay obviously) Considering the studio I think we should expect big things. Oh yes, you have a chainsaw for a hand.

This was apparently leaked from a SEGA even held last Wednesday. Embargoes seem to have become as important as the Canadian military budget.

Anyways, enjoy.

[UPDATE: This game will be revealed, as well as 2 others from the studio (DS,ps3/360) on Thursday when embargo lifts, expect quality trailer then
A Call for Help!

Hey Dtoid,

I hope some of you guys can help me. I know that most of us who frequent this site are deeply rooted in gaming culture, that said. I think its safe to say that we all fantasized about making a game of our own- That may be a pretty grand assumption but, to be frank, I'm hoping more than a few of you have some experience in the field. I need help.

I'm hoping to create few simple flash games for school next year and I was wondering if anybody could point me to some decent tutorials for Actionscript 3. There are plenty for 2, but I'm trying to learn the latest. I am not partial to any sort of game, anything would help and be appreciated!

I realize I haven't been around that long, but I've got to ask for help, kind of crucial here...

Of course I'll post anything decent that comes out of this, game wise.

Thanks!
Returning from a long hiatus

Most, if not all of you, are probably (if anybody is bored enough to read this) wondering how one can 'return' when they were never here before. Well I've been on dtoid for a few years now. I used to post back when the forums were thriving and Summa was wreaking havoc on all of our intellects. In fact I was first enticed to post a comment on one of Summa's stories, in summation I believe it went something like this;

This guy ruined Joystiq for me, now he's ruining dtoid.

Anyways, Summa hate is even older than Wii hate- so lets move on shall we?

I participated in the forums for a while, most interested in the 'games as art' talk that was going on at the time but what really makes dtoid feel like a friends house is the podcast series.

I've been listening to the podcast since Ron was a regular, those were some pretty spectacular episodes, though they were more entertaining than anything. Dtoid podcasts are the best on the net these days though, they keep me here at Dtoid, and sane at work!

Anyways, in the coming summer months I hope to contribute quite a bit here at Dtoid, I have the little info on the side there if anybody is interested. Which brings me to my next point...

I love to draw, I love comic books, I love games, I love the Internet...So- though I'm not pretentious (hopefully?) I think I'm, as I'm sure we all are, above Deviant art... Not that I'm going to post tons of art here, but I was hoping to do some sort of comic. It has always been a dream of mine to recreate Chrono Trigger as I play through it, but alas all I have is the PS1 port and it gets to be almost unplayable as you get past Zeal. Load times, yikes. I've been looking for the game on ebay and such but I can't win....

Hey Guys, I'm Perri, been gaming most of my life. First console was the SNES, don't know if it's nostalgia or not but it's still my favourite- not that I play it most often, I don't think I have to list the reasons...

Fun facts!

I play my Wii regularly, currently SSBB (though No More Heroes will be finished some day!)
My DS currently has Pokemon Diamond in it but lusts for Ninja Gaiden , and Prof. Layton
I think Games can be art
Was inspired by RFGO to buy a second SNES, just ebayed Mega Man X -so good!

Some of my Favourite games?

Mario Galaxy, All Zelda (excluding NES), Star Fox 64, Smash Bros, Super/Metroid/Prime, Final Fantasy IX,X, Soul Caliber II, Super Adventure Island, Kirby, Chrono Trigger

I'm an art student, so I'm hoping to get some game related work up here, maybe a little webcomic...Anyways I'm writing this as a form of procrastination- exam time, studying is not fun. Should probably get back to that though.

Enjoy.
