I just got done reading all the liveblogs and watching the montage videos on Nintendo's web site, and I thought I'd talk about what I think.
First, let's go with the DS, or rather, the DSi. Honestly, I'm a little worried about it. I've never been a handheld gamer, but honestly, I can't see anything good coming out of the removal of the Game Boy Advance slot. If Nintendo makes a way for us to copy GBA carts to an SD card and play them off there, then that's fine, but I don't see this happening, because piracy would run rampant. Besides, how are games like Guitar Hero and the like going to work? Nintendo said that the new DSi is supposed to compliment the DS Lite, not replace it. But who wants to carry around two DSs? I love all the other features, and being able to download DSWare will be really nice, but I'm gonna have to wait a bit to see what I want to do about this.
And now, we have the Wii. Let's make something clear here: I love the Wii. I really do. It's the first console of this generation that I owned, and the last one I'd ever get rid of. However, recently, I've been really pissed at the library of games we have. I've recently realized that this anger shouldn't be directed at Nintendo per say, but at Nintendo of America, and at the 3rd party companies in the U.S., for their decisions. And that's why I'm worried about all the games that they showed. Now don't get me wrong --- I loved almost everything I saw. Punch Out!, Klonoa, Sin and Punishment 2, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, and quite a few other games in there that I don't know the names of really did catch my attention. The reason I'm worried is because I can almost guarantee that not even half of these games will make it anywhere outside of Japan, and since Nintendo is full of Nazis who hate people importing their stuff, there's no way of playing those games here in the U.S. And no, I'm not buying a Japanese Wii.
I really am excited about everything I saw, though, especially on the Wii front. The Wii needs stuff like that, especially the storage fix (although, from what it sounds like, we still won't be able to play games off of the SD card or copy previously uncopyable saves to it, just store them on there until we have the room on the Wii itself to put the games on the system). I guess we'll see very soon what the future holds for Nintendo. Now all I want to know is if the HD Wii rumors are true, because that would be freaking epic for their next console.
What do you guys think of what's been shown? Much better than Nintendo's E3 offerings, huh?

Okay, and now for an update on Travis, since it's been a while since I posted anything. If you need to read about what I mean, just click the link on my sidebar.
So far, we've raised about $465. It's not anywhere near what we need, but that's still not pocket change. Most of that money came from people here at Destructoid that donated, and I can't thank you guys enough for helping my friend and me. I really appreciate it.
I'm looking for other ways to get the word out, and will hopefully have the story put in local newspapers sometime soon. Again, thanks for all your help.

My impression: some of this should have been shown at E3.
I'd like to say more but lets face it...NoA is not representing gamers as they can and should be doing. Also the Haruhi wii game looks nice.
@Manasteel
It's true, there's no way all of this was thought up after E3. It should have all been spaced out.
I love Nintendo of Japan, but Nintendo of America is pissing me off a ton recently.
They definitely showed a lot more than they have in a while I'm still disappointed that they haven't really shown a new big game. As blasphemous as this will sound, I don't really care about punch out.
Mushrooooooooom men. Yes, I'm obsessed.
Also, I wasn't clear on taking out the gameboy advance slot - is that to make it lighter/smaller? I mean - that seems almost pointless in general...but maybe I will bypass the DSlite to get this one.
Girls pants have smaller pockets =(
Also - Good luck on the fundraising - when I get some more money to may name - PRE-DS - I will definitely toss as much as I can spare that way.
Can I get my money back? I'm kinda broke and have a shitload of games to buy.
Just kidding bro, keep up the good work.
Thanks, Kat. I really do appreciate it. :)
@Takeshi
Heh, you and me both. :P Thanks for the well-wishes.
