As far as video games go, I've been a gamer since I was two-and-a-half. I try to play whatever interests me, despite what other people think of those games. I don't consider myself to be a "casual" gamer, but I also don't take games unbelievably seriously. They're games, after all. They're meant to be enjoyed, not obsessed over. I never base whether I buy a game or not on a single review -- I have to try the game for myself to be totally sure.

HOLY CRAP, THE FATAL FRAME IV TRANSLATION IS ALMOST DONE.

I am freaking the hell out right now.

I knew the translation was almost finished, but the entire website's redesign says that it's really almost finished. Apparently, we should have a fully-functional English translation before Thanksgiving at the end of this month.

The patch will run without the need of having any modifications on your console, be it software or hardware. Just pop in an original copy of the game and the patch on an SD card or USB drive (FAT32 formatted), and it translates the game on the fly. This is going to be the greatest month ever as soon as the patch is done.

It seems like the website is having some issues, so keep trying -- It looks really nice when it actually loads.

Holy cow! I didn't even know that there was a fatal frame for WII, and I've always wanted to play any game in the series but I don't own a ps2 or a Xbox. It seems to have received great scores as well. Holy crap thanks for sharing this man , this got me excited. So all I have to do now is to order a copy from japan eh? And get a Japanese Wii or a freeloader :( bleh

Ah, crap. I need to import this game soon. I've been holding off because a) wasn't sure if this project would disappear, leaving me with a $70 game I can't understand, and b) on the off-chance that an announcement about it coming stateside would be made. Last one is highly unlikely, sure, but still...

Nope, no Homebrew Channel required! It uses the same exploit as the HBC installer to run the patch, but it doesn't actually require any modification!

I'm not even interested in the game, but I'm super interested in the fact that it exists in the first place. Back in MY day, we had to work for our translation patches...

Or at least, someone else did, depending on the platform.

I still have my Japanese copy of FF IV in the shrink wrap, just waiting for this patch to be finished. SO EXCITED!
