Transformers: The Game Review
parrothead | 4:34 PM on 07.12.2007 1 comments

Well I got fooled again. I loved the Transformers Movie, I have seen it twice and the second time was better then the first. Rachel Taylor is my new crush in life. So as I walked into Best Buy to get The Godfather: Blackhand Edition for the Wii, on Reverend Anthony's recommendation, I stopped at the Transformers:The Game stand. I knew the game was going to suck, but I was so high on Transformers love that I actually talked myself into buying it. I did not want to buy the game for the Wii, since I was buying the other game and I have yet to get a PS3 so I bought the game on the PSP. The prospect of controlling my favorite Transformers overwhelmed my own knowledge that video games made for movies usually stink. The intro to the game was great, and I thought maybe I was wrong about this game. It turns out that the into is the best part of the game. This game really is not that much fun. For one, you do not get to choose between the Autobots and Decpeticons. They make you play on both sides. Secondly, The controls are suspect. For example, when you are controlling Blackout, you have to use the analog stick to go forward and backwards, the triangle button to aim up, the x button to aim down, the l-button plus the triangle or x button to move up or down, the R-button to fire the weapons, the down button on the d-pad to track with missiles, the right button on the d-pad to cycle the weapons, and the square and circle button to turn left and right. This is all too much to keep track of. I guess at some point you can control the Transformers in space, but this game sucks so bad that I can't bring myself to keep playing to get that far. The cut scenes are not very good, there is a little bit of the human element to move the game along. Did I mention that you cannot change Transform in midair? Because you can't, unless you are a helicopter then you can't Transform while you are on the ground. The camera does not follow the action very well. Every fight feels the same, the only difference is that in a boss battle you have to hit them a few more times. I would really stay away from the this game, I imagine that it is a little better on the PS3 or XBOX 360 but I cannot see it being a whole heap better. Save you money and go see the movie again, but don't buy this game. I cannot even recommended a rent on this game. It pains me to say, but avoid this game all together.

Overall Score: 2.5/10
Final Call: AVOID

But I must say that The Godfather: Blackhand Edition is my new favorite game for the Wii. I am having a blast playing that game.
