So, um, when will it be free to play games on XBox live?

I don't own a PS3, but sometimes I wish I did, play games for free online? Yes! So why then does Microsoft make its fans, and paying customers pay $8 for a month or $20 dollars for three months? (greed? *cough*) Because they can. Because people pay for it. Because nobody demands that Microsoft enter the late 20th century online gaming model. When, before Xbox Live, did we ever need to pay to play? I think we need to organize a strike of sorts.

Stop playing on Xbox Live and stop paying for it. Demand free online gaming! Maybe if its not free there could at least be some more reasonable deal. Say I just bought the Orange Box or Halo 3, two games that feature popular online games / modes of play and I just paid $55-$60 or even more for the games. Why no free online for a month?!!!?!?! I know that some games do this, and Halo and the Orange Box are going to be huge sellers!

Microsoft! Hey! Free online games! Come on? Please?

Besides, XBL is WORTH paying for, unlike Sony's services.. and though it may seem Im being a little biased, it's really the only competition XBL has going for it.

Sorry.. 50 bucks for a year is a sweet deal to me.

I don't have a PS3 so I don't know how PSN works. But what I do know is that XBL works really well and pretty smoothly. Maybe not the hardware but M$ is a software company and that is what they emulate best, software.

I'd rather pay $50 a year for a sweet service than pay $0 for a lacklust service. If you think that is a bad deal, you are we todd did.

There is no way you or anyone are going to convince M$ to give up this "free" monies. This goes same with that stupid chain spam that says if you put "Make XBOX LIVE FREE" in your quote, it will happen. It is not real and it will NEVER be free.

Get over it and just pay the money so Sasha and I can tear you a new one.

I heard if you change your phrase on your GT, Xbox will go free forever. Try that and see if it works.

Also, what schlub pays full price for a year of XBL? I paid $35 for my 1 year card.

If you have an Xbox 360, you have a Live Silver account. You're playing online if you have a silver account.

Quit yer bitchin'. You get Leaderboards, Achievements, and you can add friends.

dvd, I thought Silver just let you download videos and some content but doesn't let you play online?

You can't chat or play against someone on XBL silver.

Just Leaderboards, achievements, and the like.

XBL is far better than the PS3s sad network. You get what you pay for, if you don't want to pay for it then tough shit.

It will probably never be free, and for good reason, it keeps all the bitches off XBL, kids that don't have a job to pay for there subscription shouldnt be on XBL anyway.

Plus 50 bucks a year is not that bad. How much do you pay for your cable and internet? Or better yet, how much does it cost a month to play WoW?

Oh and PSN sucks by the way, i don't like it....resistance fall of man...it's meh.

It will go free right after you stop getting your facts wrong. 8$ a month? You're getting ripped off. That adds up to $96 a year. Where are you from?? I pay $50 a year, like most normal people. Right at Wal-Mart, Gamestop, EB, ANYWHERE, it is always $50 a year (and sometimes you get a free month).

On the third Tuesday of next years sunrise, they will make it free (but only if the leap year doesn't happen.)
