NY the state of gaming? Help tourists! Comment!
oberoi | 7:13 PM on 03.08.2009 12 comments

So heres the deal. I live in Sweden, right? Sweden is really, really fucking far away from the Unidet States of McDonalds...

But now my girlfriend and I have saved up enough money to finally make a trip to the promised land, a country where most of you (probably) resides. Since we are students with more depts than actual cash we are only spending about two and a half weeks in New York before going home to boring old Sweden.

Heres the thing- Im a gamer! Sweden sucks at having awesome gamestores, comicbook stores, fuck, even moviestores and I really want to shop the shit out of New York. So where to?

I Really need your help. Whats your favourite store and where is it? Do you know a kick ass place to get rare retro games, or just plain retro games? Do you know where a nerd belongs in NY or do you know some kick ass place you just HAVE to see when in town?

Remember, I'm not just talking New York City. Me and the missus are very flexible and are thinking about crossing state borders if it is worth the effort.

I really appriciate your help.

If anything, I'll try and get you into the Dtoid NY emailer. They'd be able to point you in the right direction with what to do in the city.

Yeah, I was going to mention Chinatown Fair, but I figured we'd tell him all about that anyway.

Eat dinner at Smith & Wollinsky's... after a day at Nintendo World obviously. I don't know any super awesome secret arcades or gaming stores in NYC, but I'm sure others do.

If you're really up to the travel, I'd suggest even going to Six Flags in New Jersey, or the Liberty Science Center. If you just want to do the normal sight-seeing stuff, then a visit to Staten Island is well worth it... or you could just go to the Nintendo World Store a second time.
