About Me
My names Nick, im a hardcore gamer from Indiana.(not many of us). I own all major consoles, but my favorite for gaming is the Xbox 360. Some of my favorite games would be anything from the Zelda series, Halo, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, both Fables, LOTR: BFME II, Crimson Skies, Phantom Dust, Animal Crossing, No More Heroes, and Little Big Planet. I change my mind every day about what i want to do with my life. Sometimes i want to write for a videogame blog, sometimes i want to open my own game store...complete with a gaming lounge. Ive also wanted to become a firefighter, as well as open my own pizza place. So, one day ill figure it out, for now though, ill just keep the ideas flowing.

Avatar Crossing

So I just read the front page article about Rare wanting to get more involved with this new avatar system the NXE has brought us. Me and my friends have been talking lately about how the avatars would be a great way to get Microsoft tapped into the casual market. I recently bought Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii, and oh so many times had i wished i was playing on Xbox Live. None of my friends own a Wii (or had one then sold it.) so im not going from villiage to villiage collecting and conversing with my pals...instead im stuck alternating the controller with my girlfriend (man i wish they included local co-op). So as im talking with my friends about this "Avatar Crossing", we come up with several great ideas that would sell like hot cakes im sure. First of all, imagine Animal Crossing with achievements, no better way to utilize achievements than to stretch them out and reward you for collecting EVERY SINGLE GOD D@MN BUG, FOSSILE, OR FISH. I admit, playing a game without achievements is almost like going to the donut factory and not getting a free sample, there's no point. Also, playing over Xbox Live would allow better use of online play. Easily go to and from your friends village, no friend codes to deal with. Xbox Live would also allow better online events to take place. Have a big community thanksgiving dinner, have strangers gather around the big christmas tree in town, being able to ACTUALLY trick or treat from house to house, or even recreate Microsofts awesome water balloon commercial, so many possibilities. But, i feel as though my dreams will never become reality. Who knows, maybe Rare will wise up and make something totally kick ass. I just kinda feel like if someone does use this idea...it will feel cheap, shallow, or gimmicky. Well heres to hope, huh?

Any thoughts?

achivements would be just the thing to get me playing animal crossing games again, they would actually make all that collecting shit worth it.

Achievements or trophies in Animal Crossing would completely defeat the purpose of what the game is really about. Plus the way we think AC should be is completely opposite to how Nintendo feels it should be. This is Pokemon all over again :(

What you're describing sounds a hell of a lot like Home.

yeah i realized that it sounded a bit like Home, but im thinking more of an actual game....where you do stuff. And i dont see how achievements take the point out of the game...if anything i think it adds to it. I guarantee i wont collect even close to all of the items in animal crossing for wii...throw some achievements my way...then ill be at it for much much longer. and dont get me started on pokemon...a well done wii version of this IP would sell millions, well, itd still do better on a service like xbox live.
