Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
That's how they work.
Don't question the worthiness of their content. Its their blog site, after all.
going to go get banned from Kotaku
Trick question, no Youtube commenter is less than 260 lbs.
As for the banning they are really strict about what you can and can't say in the comments to try and keep out the trolls so they get less bitch fights than we do here in some of the frontpage articles
Most of the regs on that site are worst then the trolls, but they never get banned becuase they are the "Last Minute Blowjob Backups".
Banned for freedom speech?? Pathetic. But then again it's their site and if they choose to mold it into a singular entity with the only allowable contributions are the ones they hand pick, they can do that.
I wouldn't count ourselves spoiled until Jim Sterling is banned.
Fuck you.
Jim is awesome at what he does. I see him as one of our strong points here at Destuctoid.
and if you were joking...sorry :)
Jim Sterling's glaring faults are in no way a laughing matter.
Except for his morbid obesity.
Hey I'm actually on someones friends list...!
Get over it. While I wish he didn't cover some of the articles he does (lets get someone else on the games-as-corruption defenseive team now and then, eh?)
Jim Sterling is tenacious in his coverage and doesn't afraid of anything.
Yeah that's true about the regs but I guess everyone loves to have a booty call...
@nopk:
What exactly are these other glaring faults of Mr Sterling you speak of? Maybe you just need to take him a little less seriously, you know kind of how you take a tabloid paper a little less seriously than a broadsheet newspaper.
then i'm not joking: FUCK YOU
unless you're joking..but then fuck you for joking ass hat
Destructoid: "We are Freedom of speech, b1tches!" and a Rick James Dtoid Robot silhouette in the bg or something alike.
Seriously, When Niero told me about Dtoid at the beginning (yep I was referred by the man himself) I saw it and quickly judged, meh, this is just another blog site like the rest. but then I started warming up to Dtoid, saw where it stood and the people ho come here are free to speak whats on their mind, without the fear of the blog police to hit you with the ban hammer.
I joined Kotaku after joining Dtoid just to check it out, let me put it this way, I voiced my opinions, and I think I lasted a month then got banned. I said well screw it, you can't even tell who's there and who is not, too many people all following the "I lick your balls posts of w/e the main bloggers say" mentality.
And if you even dare to make a post that contradicts theirs, say goodbye to your account. I have nothing against Kotaku, and sometimes they post good articles, but the few times I check their site and read peoples comments, thats what it is, and thats what they follow.
"Can I be banned from commenting?
Yes, if your comments are excessively self-promotional, obnoxious, or even worse, boring. There will be no warning, and no appeal. (For advice on good comment etiquette, check out Lifehacker's guide to weblog comments.)"
Of course, people can get out of hand and when that does happen a ban is in order, but it should never be made into a big event like Kotaku's "Ban Monday."
Also, of course he's joking, next time check his friend list :)
I know :).
or
maybe he has him there so he knows when he post so he know when to troll him
I thought of that myself.

Also, Destructoid and Kotaku are lovey dovey with eachother, (nevar forget Brian's Brass Balls) so I doubt you'll start a revolution of people not reading it.
Duh.
Kotaku doesn't have the same rowdy, fun-loving personality Destructoid has. And really, who needs Kotaku when you've got the 'toid?
I was polite and did not call them inbreds.
@Everyone else
The fact I can call Jim Sterling a fat and useless brit with bad teeth is an attestment to the fact that Destructoid is better than most.
Although I do think that he's wrong most of the time.
