I'll give it to Sony. They really know how to hold a conference. They enforced all of their systems and really gave a shout out to third parties. While Microsoft was all about their first party games and their whole new we're going casual too Sony came gunning for techies and gamers full force. They had some nice surprises like a new Ratchet game and DC Universe as well as showing the big guns like Resistance 2 and God of War III.
They showed off the Playstation Network's growth off beautifully. They kept it simple showing they still have Home, their new video service, and more unique games coming in the future. The action figure fighting game looked like a lot of fun for sure. Also using Little Big Planet instead of standard graphs was a nice touch to keep their business talk from dragging too much.
Sony definitely boasted about Blu-Ray and how powerful the PS3 is however they had the software to back it up. They showed that they didn't finish first the last two generations for nothing with cool new games like Infamous, MAG, DC Universe Online, and Little Big Planet taking center stage. While Microsoft's box is the home to sequels of great franchises there was a definite sense of "Oh, I love these games. But where's the new stuff?"
Overall I wouldn't say any of the conferences really stand out as the all-powerful winner, but Nintendo is the definite 3rd place with Sony and Microsoft fighting tooth and nail for 1st. Now my biggest fear with Sony's conference is that their was a lack of actual demos in the show. Microsoft showed that their games are ready or at least close enough to ready to be shown at E3.
It looks like the Big 3 are saving their stuff for Leipzig or some other show which makes me sad, but excited at the same time. Overall I think I'd rank it Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo in terms of shows SO FAR and that's because of the FFXIII bomb that got dropped. E3 isn't over yet so maybe we'll get something good to shift the rankings.
I was quite impressed with Sony's conference. I liked Microsoft also, but I think Sony had the slight edge (well, after that FFXIII news, maybe not...). I'm still sick over Nintendo, though... I feel kinda let down. :(
They didn't show off God of War 3 at all. Cinematic teasers don't count as showing off your game. This conference was all about future potential again. The, can you imagine what year such and such will be like, all over again. The only decent things they showed were inFamous, Quest for Booty, and Resistance 2.
I disagree about God of War III. No there wasn't any gameplay, but they were able to show what the cinematics will look like. That's definitely important. Plus, it gets you psyched for it.
Showing a teaser in enough IMO. Just showing it and saying "Yeah, it's coming look it's pretty!" is enough to calm the fans you know? I think MAG looks really interesting and so does DC Universe, but as I said I was disappointed Sony didn't show more live gameplay.
Yeah I wish their was more in game footage and demos, but nevertheless it was a good conference. Wish we could have seen more of Killzone 2. DC universe, MAG, and Infamous look awesome! Really the way I see it, Next to FFXIII, Sony still has a lot of games coming, as well as FFXIII Vs. which is still exclusive.
MAG has potental but it's set some really lofty goals that will be difficult to achieve. If they can pull it off, great but I'm sure it'll either be scaled back or canceled outright. I know, I'm a pessimist.
Sony was the best on average. Like if there was some sort of graph, their line would be the highest, but they just didn't have the same punch at the end. It matters little to me, as my limited taste for RPGs is western anyway, but the ff FF13 was huge. I was hoping for something similar from Sony like "Halo trilogy on a disc" or "Oops, KZ2 is done, August release date".

Yeah, Microsoft really needs to drop the Arcade and 20gb and focus on the Elite and 60gb model. Unfortunately they're too stubborn to do that.
Just the actual FFXIII so far however that could change depending on console sales. But for now Versus XIII is a PS3 exclusive, which makes me sad because I want Versus more than XIII.

About Me: I like Nintendo games a lot obviously especially the Mother/Earthbound series once again obvious. My favorite system is the SNES followed closely by the N64 although it might be nostalgia more than the actual games in that battle. My favorite game all time is actually Majora's Mask because of how fresh it was to play especially since I didn't play Ocarina until after Majora's which makes me special :)

yep definitely took the cake. MAG looks like a new enhancement to Battlefield/CoD4. Infamous looks like the way Handcock should have been done.

PUSHUPS!!
Sony did well. I am worried about MAG with that many people in the same game, but would be something to see.
Sony had about 5 games I'm really interested in. That made it the best showing to me.
I don't think the $400 80GB has BC, Wrath.
wait so the 80 gig sku will have backwards compatibility? i missed that?
now all i need is BC on my gimped 40 gig and ill be a happy camper
The whole "same functionality as the 40 gig" statement makes me think it won't have BC.

Are the other 2 FFXIII games coming to 360 or just the one?
