Old-school gamer. I started gaming with the Atari 2600. I became an addict with the arcade release of Street Fighter II at my college. The SNES release pushed me into buying that system and a lame arcade stick. I haven't looked back since then. I still consider the 16-bit to be the Golden Age of gaming. The current generation is keeping me pretty happy, especially with the fighting game renaissance that's happening lately. And, yes, I'm old.

Not to start a flame war or bash what appears to be your favorite show, but aren't you giving Avatar a little too much credit? I mean, realistically, saying that an Avatar game "should be one of the greatest videogames of all time" might be overstating things a bit.
Yeah, it's a bit of hyperbole, but I think that if a developer had announced the world and characters of Avatar as the basis of a game instead of an animated show, gamers would have had a giant nerdgasm. When a world as unique as Avatar's is combined with martial arts, elemental super powers and huge battles, it should be perfect.
BTW, Avatar is my favorite show written by Americans; I'm more of an anime fan, with Gundam being at the top of my list of obsessions. All I want is one Avatar game that's as good as Locus of Heroes or SD Gundam Gashapon Wars.
Anyway, your complaint over the universe avatar has and the game we got makes me laugh, I thought the same thing about the transformers game, robots that turn into cars and this huge backstory to work with, what do we get? A beat-em up with timed missions and shitty driving mechanics.
Honestly, I've never given Avatar much of a chance when I saw it, so maybe I'll take a look. Is it still on?
Hmm, what is Locus of Heroes? I've never heard of that, and not much is coming up on Google (aside from something titled "Masculinities Archive," which I'm staying far, far away from).
Also music games are still something of a niche. Just who in their right mind would blame them of all people? Unless they're talking about games like High School Musical or something.
