It all started innocently enough. I created a KoF XII room and start playing the AI. A few minutes later, a challenger appears. The PSN ID is unholyDESOLATE, capitalized as you see here. We have a great game. One of those blood-pumping in your veins, too-close-to-call games. My Kensou barely takes out his Mature with 1 second on the clock. His Leona, which was beastly, takes out my Kensou and Kyo. My Joe finishes his Leona, leaving my Joe at 80% health versus his Duo Lon. It was close but I lost with his Duo Lon at about 18% health. If I win a good match that has a good connection, I stay for another match, at least. I like to give the other player a rematch since one win proves nothing. unholyD doesn't roll like that. He leaves. I'm disappointed by that but whatever. I message him "great game." He responds with "not from you. learn to play." Wow. So we have a close match, which he barely wins and then he responds rudely to a compliment. I replied back to him because I'm old and don't have the desire to deal with lame ass people like this. I put some thought into my response and, despite considering the high road, decided to communicate in his language and on his level. My reply: "nice attitiude. it was too close for you to be that cocky. dick." I thought about lecturing on how to accept a compliment but decided such concepts are beyond his comprehension. This is why I never wear my headset unless I'm playing someone I know.
Funny you wrote something like this, I had a conversion about the "Good Game" clause with a Dtoider the other day. My rule is simple:
I always issue forth a GG to all the strangers I play, regardless of what they say, good or bad, I reserve most of my shit talking to the people I know. Though it s easy to take the low road like some, I feel being a gentlemen only highlights more how much of a douchebag they are.
I had a dude I beat come message me 7 times and even join a party chat I had with 4 other friends...he was a 20 something pothead just furious I beat him down.
Whenever I get messages from people I don't know or like, I just send them a vaguely threatening "Don't message me again" canned note and block them. It makes me feel a little better on the inside, but not as much as if I keep it going and potentially get more out of the exchange.

about me
Old-school gamer. I started gaming with the Atari 2600. I became an addict with the arcade release of Street Fighter II at my college. The SNES release pushed me into buying that system and a lame arcade stick. I haven't looked back since then. I still consider the 16-bit to be the Golden Age of gaming. The current generation is keeping me pretty happy, especially with the fighting game renaissance that's happening lately. And, yes, I'm old.

I used to send out GGs to my opponents but I kept getting negativity back so I stopped. I hate playing against randoms. =\
I once got a message reading "lol ur terrible" after I mopped the floor with some guy. I beat him, ruthlessly, and he called me terrible.
The mind boggles.
I'd send out GG's and stuff, but with a regular controller, it's to much of a hassle.
So I usually just use the Force to send out GGs and what not.
What a douche. I rarely play randoms, but I've been fortunate with the few I have played. Sorry to hear this.

Don't play MvC 2 with randoms.
Just don't.

Yeah play with friends.
Wow...
I think we should all hop on and send him rude messages, confusing him since he won't know any of us.
Nah, we're more mature than that, I guess. :P
Y0j1mb0 is right in every way.

Yeah, be prepared for the scathing message I left you on psn for beating me at KOF. Better get your Kleenex ready.
