My birthday is this upcoming Friday; for those of you keeping score, that's July 4 and I'll be 36 this year. You know I'm a gamer for life because I'm still working on the logistics of having an arcade machine in my condo. Luckily, my wife is also a gamer and agrees completely. She just informed me that we're doing a few special things to celebrate my birthday. Dinner at my favorite Japanese restaurant, complete with tempura ice cream. The really big deal is a day trip on Monday to the Riverwalk in Tulsa. It's about a 90 minute drive but there's a really good arcade there that has a working 4-player X-Men cabinet there. Last time we were in the area, we played a few games. This time we go to conquer it.
The great DBZ experiment I have become reasonably good at Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3. The game is very different from what I'm used to playing but I find it rather enjoyable. Naruto: Clash of Ninja could learn a few things from it, such as including the Japanese voices and more creative gameplay modes. While the presentation in DBZ:BT3 is rather good, what's really missing is a good tutorial. The instruction manual does not cover the Classic Controller or the Gamecube/Wavebird controller and the tutorial is mostly reading. In order to learn, I practice. Reading is good, but practicing is essential. In the next few weeks, I'll have that friend over to see if I have come close to his mastery. He's played every Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi game, so he may destroy me. I'll post the results.
Have a great time! The weather lately here (I'm in OKC) has been nicer and less hot than years past on July 4th.. Coincidently, both my girlfriend ^_^ and sister o_O; have birthdays around this time too.. Enjoy!
@The-Excel: There is a constant debate on which titles to get. I often think an SNK multi-title machine would be best. I would probably want Samurai Shodown 2, Bust-A-Move Again, Ninja Combat and maybe a KOF or Fatal Fury title; or Street Fighter Alpha 2. But there's a cabinet I like that costs about $1500 and is made in such a way that any console or PC could be plugged into it.

about me
Old-school gamer. I started gaming with the Atari 2600. I became an addict with the arcade release of Street Fighter II at my college. The SNES release pushed me into buying that system and a lame arcade stick. I haven't looked back since then. I still consider the 16-bit to be the Golden Age of gaming. The current generation is keeping me pretty happy, especially with the fighting game renaissance that's happening lately. And, yes, I'm old.
Proud owner of: Kiwi Gameboy Color, GBA SP, GBA Micro, PSP 3000, White DS Lite, Silver NeoGeo Pocket, purple SwanCrystal, SNES, Genesis, N64, purple Gamecube, slim PS2, Dreamcast, Wii and PS3.

Happy early birthday. Good luck with conquering X-Men. At the Baltimore NARP, we spent probably hundreds of theoretical quarters beating that game.
Happy birthday and all.
So what game do you plan on getting when your plan becomes viable?
god damn you're old :D
Epic 4player xmen arcade playing is god damn epic.
Happy birth!
Happy birthday man. Have some good times, and play as the Juggernaut if it is at all possible.
