The design is basically the same one used when I had Shingo on the stick. The problem with that mod was that having only 4 buttons on a stick is problematic. Even KoF XII uses the R1 and L1 buttons for menu navigation. I once used the 4 button Shingo stick to defeat a friend at Third Strike. He'll never hear the end of it. I beat him with a 2 button handicap. Anyway, the new mod is done and the HRAP is now a 6 button stick. I bought the plexi from Art's Hobbies and also had him print and laser cut the art so that it was perfect.

I was going to have Art laser etch the plexi but then found this awesome shot of Kyo. I couldn't resist, especially since he's one of my mains and one of my favorite fighting game character designs. I went all out and added a clear red plexiglass dust washer for that extra cool factor.

I decided to code the buttons, since I was not using a standard layout. I wanted the buttons set up so that the default layout in SNK fighters would be the arcade layout. I didn't label the buttons last time and it was very confusing. I used a dingbat font and matched the colors with the buttons through the magic of Photoshop. Luckily, they printed very close to the actual colors.

In the design, I kept the list of SNK fighters and, since Neo Geo cabinets only had 4 buttons, I decided to use 2 clear buttons on the bottom row and to continue the design as though the buttons were invisible.

Arcade buttons


I don't care what anyone says, no one makes buttons as beautiful as Seimitsu clears. They are works of art. This is one of the many reasons sticks are superior to controllers.
