Old-school gamer. I started gaming with the Atari 2600. I became an addict with the arcade release of Street Fighter II at my college. The SNES release pushed me into buying that system and a lame arcade stick. I haven't looked back since then. I still consider the 16-bit to be the Golden Age of gaming. The current generation is keeping me pretty happy, especially with the fighting game renaissance that's happening lately. And, yes, I'm old.

And it doesn't seem right to compare a game like this (action-adventure) to a side scroller shoot 'em up. Of course those won't be very long.
Also, Gunstar Heroes is a bad example because that game is two player, so it's much easier to go back to the game with a friend.
On the flipside... I don't have a lot of time lately, and a short game might be... nice. Am I the only one that thinks this? I have WarHawk and Phoenix Wright now, and I'm expecting Rachet and Clank, Mario Galaxy, and Smash Bros. Brawl shortly. Heavenly Sword is a nice distraction from that. Especially given it's production quality. They almost should have just made a movie instead of a game. It's really excellent so far IMO.
I really hate games that are forced to be longer. I gave up on Baten Kaitos about halfway through it because it was obvious that the developers were pushing a 20 hour game to play for 40 hours.
