Old-school gamer. I started gaming with the Atari 2600. I became an addict with the arcade release of Street Fighter II at my college. The SNES release pushed me into buying that system and a lame arcade stick. I haven't looked back since then. I still consider the 16-bit to be the Golden Age of gaming. The current generation is keeping me pretty happy, especially with the fighting game renaissance that's happening lately. And, yes, I'm old.

Samurai Shodown II and Ys 1 & 2 on the VC; Disgaea 3 on PS3; From the Abyss, n+, Commando: Steel Disaster and MLB Power Pros on the DS. My wallet may hurt but my soul cries tears of happiness. I've got Disgaea 3 and n+ on pre-order. No one would let me pre-order From the Abyss or Commando: SA so I'll have to hunt those down.

Also, my HRAP 3 Amazon Edition should be in today or tomorrow. I'm open to the idea of modding it, but I'm not sure yet.

My week consists of Tales of Vesperia, Harvest Moon Island of Happiness, Castle Crashers, and Infinite Undiscovery. yeah, it's a pretty damn good week.

I wish Castle Crashers was on another platform. I loved Alien Hominid so much. It's one of my favorite Gamecube games.

@Casualweaponry: I wish I could play SFIV. The one local arcade has closed so I don't think it's going to happen until the console release.

Thanks for reminding me about Disgaea 3. I'll be picking that up for sure. Samurai Showdown II is one of my favorite 2-D fighting games but I already own that. It does seem like a good week but the best week for me will be in October when I pick up Little Big Planet. I think you wont hear from me for month while I play Frankenstein with that game.

Apparently, Commando: Steel Disaaster got delayed again. I'm hearing that it won't actually be out until September now.

I am all over From the Abyss though. N+ will have to wait, I'm still playing the original.

Is Ys all that good? I own Ys 3: Wanderers from Ys for the SNES and it's pretty terrible. I hear 1 and 2 are top-down like Zelda though, so maybe I'll sink $8 on them.

I've never had the chance to play Ys before. Back in the day, it was only available as a pack-in with the TurboDuo. As a poor college student, $300 was a bit too much for a game system. After playing a few minutes on my lunch break, I'm very interested. The music is great; the characters are drawn in the classic pixel anime style with minimal animation. This game overhead like Zelda but moves much faster. I've only fought a few monsters on the overworld, thus far. The battles are basically the character ramming into the monsters for damage. It's an interesting take for sure. The game is in widescreen; the top half of the screen is the game and the bottom half are character stats. I'm looking forward to hitting some of the dungeons. Everyone I know who's played these 2 games are rabid fans.
