About Me

Old-school gamer. I started gaming with the Atari 2600. I became an addict with the arcade release of Street Fighter II at my college. The SNES release pushed me into buying that system and a lame arcade stick. I haven't looked back since then. I still consider the 16-bit to be the Golden Age of gaming. The current generation is keeping me pretty happy, especially with the fighting game renaissance that's happening lately. And, yes, I'm old.

I finally beat the Blast Works arcade mode tonight. I had 2 continues and 49 lives left. It was a triumphant moment. For my troubles, I unlocked rRootage, which is one of my favorite homebrew shmups. I've played it on my computer before, but it's sweeter on my 32" HDTV. This year has seen some extremely high profile game releases in GTAIV and MGS 4; the odd thing is I couldn't care less. I grew bored of GTA after playing GTA III for 30 minutes; I don't have the patience for stealth games or long cut scenes so MGS is just not for me. To make matters even more puzzling, the releases of Etrian Odyssey II, Space Invaders Extreme, Castle of Shikigami 3 and Blast Works far more exciting. I guess that really proves that I'm retro. For some reason, my friends list is not showing up on my blog. The list is there in the edit friends tab just not on my sidebar. It seems the c-blogs are still recovering from the weekend explosion.
